In an exclusive interview, Attorney General Bill Barr told ABC News on Thursday that President Donald Trump "has never asked me to do anything in a criminal case” but should stop tweeting about the Justice Department because his tweets “make it impossible for me to do my job.”

Barr’s comments are a rare break with a president who the attorney general has aligned himself with and fiercely defended.

“I’m not going to be bullied or influenced by anybody ... whether it’s Congress, a newspaper editorial board, or the president,” Barr said. “I’m gonna do what I think is right. And you know … I cannot do my job here at the department with a constant background commentary that undercuts me.”

My guess is Barr is feeling the heat.

Barr has brought shame to the Department of Justice by misleading the public and letting the president's relationship with a criminal defendant impact the Department's treatment of that defendant.

The problem isn't just Trump's tweets. Barr is part of the problem.

I guarantee you this is a statement that is only meant to pretend some kind of independance. He has no problem bending over for Trump, he just wants to be as private as possible about it.

Barr is some ways is worse than Trump. Trump barely makes an effort to cover his larceny. Barr not only wipes Trump's butt hole for him, he tries to play whack-a-mole with Trump's arrogant, autocratic public thuggery in an effort to keep those Trumpian moles from running rampant. DISGUSTING!!!

So...Trump tweets his opinion...the media spins all kinds of nonsense out of it...this makes Barr's job harder.

Who's at fault here? Trump? For only expressing his opinion? Or the media for their unsupported spin?

Poor Trump. The guy just can't buy a break.

However, when you're using the government to bailout your criminal friends and to investigate your enemies, it's probably best to do it quietly.
 
Next we will see a news piece that Barr has had a flock of carrier pigeons delivered to his office and to the WH desperately hoping Trump will use them in the future instead of using twitter. Of course that will fail as DonDon is not happy unless he can squat over the country and squirt right in its face.

The only people happy about DonDon's use of twitter are DonDon and his ghoulish base. EVERYBODY else trying to protect him and their own butt ends would be deliriously happy if DonDon would stop using twitter. Sorry sycophants. I agree entirely. This is nothing more than a smokescreen because Barr has been getting a ton of feedback from angry conservative judges and attorneys. Bill Barr is 100% in Trump's pocket and a co-conspirator.

It's more about knowing when to opine on a judicial issue; knowing full well the circus which will follow. This is similar to the blowback that came when Obama opined on the Martin/Zimmerman case and it became a circus. In that particular case it went sideways with all sorts of commentary about Obama making it about race etc. This case is about the president opining on the sentencing of a friend, which would probably be best left alone if he doesn't want to appear like this will be handled like something right out of the cronyism textbook.
