For the Dems who are saying that Bloomberg is buying the presidency, I have this to say: He's far more generous with his money towards his staff than any other candidate. And how is it different than if Bloomberg spends his own money purchasing ad time and whatnot than any other candidate who spends money for television ad time and whatnot, but using other people's money?

Well one way to look at it is that by not allowing donations, he's allowing other people to keep their disposable income to purchase consumer goods, which will only help jobs more. Bloomberg is injecting his funds into the economy. Whereas without him spending his own money, It would just sit there Idle in the bank.

Yes, by being rich Bloomberg has an advantage that other candidates do not have but Republicans should be rejoicing that he's doing this. This guy so rich he can buy 60 Donald Trumps. Trump said he was going self fund at first but he lied about it then started soliciting donations, in fact, he backed out of a lot of things he promised. Trump is the biggest con man despicable human being to ever occupy the office far more corrupt than any other president.

Trump started out saying he was going to self fund, but he wound up soliciting donations because in the end Trump is a cheap son of a bitch Who stiffs contractors and doesn't pay his lawyers and many on his staff thinking that his celebrity is sufficient payment. I would be happy with Bernie or Bloomberg. Bloomberg just might do it. I think he's third in the National polls and rising

The Bloomberg Campaign Is a Waterfall of Cash - The New York Times

Entry-level field organizing work for Mr. Bloomberg, for example, pays $72,000 annually — nearly twice what other campaigns have offered. In under 12 weeks, Mr. Bloomberg’s operation has grown to a staff of thousands, with more than 125 offices around the country and a roster of slick events featuring swag, drinks and canapés.

But, he hates minorities.....Besides, Bernie's people will stay at home if he's not the nominee.

Just note that yet again the DNC is bending the rules for the some rich political insider with all sorts of baggage.

In order to defeat a racist, billionaire Republican the only choice is for the Democrats to come together around a..... slightly less racist, billionaire Republican?

No thanks. Bloomberg can spend all of the billions he wants, but he will never have my vote. If he is the best the Dems can manage because they are that terrified of Sanders, they deserve to lose to Trump and deal with the consequences.

It would actually be funny on the left if they voted in a one percenter to be president over the 99 percenters.

he can stop Trump and the organized crime that he's installing in our government/judicial system.

Bernie’s people are almost entirely urban, i.e. concentrated in areas that aren’t at risk of turning red whether or not they vote.

Trump didn't self fund because he's not rich enough to self fund. In reality he probably stretched himself incredibly thin by giving his campaign 50M. He couldn't scrounge up .5-1B if he needed to, period. It's very likely true that Trump wouldn't have completely self funded if he could have afforded to either, but in reality that's not the issue. It's like saying that you didn't buy a 100M dollar yacht because it wasn't quite roomy enough when in reality you live paycheck to paycheck and can barely afford the mortgage.

Absolutely not true. But lies are to be expected from Trump nation.

He'd take huge hits in the general from stop and frisk and a slew of photos of him going on golf outings with Trump.

I wouldn't say perfect , but I would say he has a good chance of beating Trump-certainly a better chance than the others.

You don't know that for sure
Oatmeal is pretty damn good when the alternative is rotten tomatoes

I've been laughing my backside off over the irony as Bloomberg's been rising in the polls.

It would be amusing to see Bloomberg win only to see the nickel head club standing around scratching their heads because in their zeal to get rid of Trump, it never occurred to them they'd end up with another old white rich billionaire elitist who was arguably a worse womanizer than Trump and whom has a contempt for the little people.

Are you seriously trying to equate, or suggest there is no meaningful difference between self-funding with unlimited cash and candidates spending funds earned by directly appealing to voters who have voluntarily given it over to use specifically to advance their campaigns?

I'm not sure if this is sarcasm or not.

Either way Bloomberg would be a disaster; yes, he is effectively buying an election, and has no real strengths outside of his money, he fellates Xi and the Chinese Communist Party, refusing to acknowledge the former as a dictator and China as the brutal authoritarian state it is, and he's notably and demonstrably racist, even going so far as to assert that the 2007-8 financial crisis was caused by poor minorities and the government rather than according blame where it belongs with Wall Street (which is where he made his billions supplying real time data, so unsurprising).

Bloomberg is an apologist, hardly what we need as President. He has made alarming statements related to "stop and frisk" and young black men in large cities.

Photos of Trump hanging out with the Clintons didn't hurt him.

Enough voters like you and enough people that say the same thing about Sanders ("if the far-left socialist is the best Dems can manage, they deserve Trump) is exactly the reason Trump will continue on with his corrupt dictatorship rule, selling out America and lining his pockets because the rest of the people could not hold their nose and vote for the lesser evil.

In the mean time, we'll have environment going to hell, healthcare going to hell, consumer protections going to hell, increased inequality, more wars - trade or hot ones, SCOTUS and rest of judges setting us back to 19th century.

You don't like Dem nominee, you can always vote for Republican Congress for balance. At least he is less likely to make Constitution irrelevant.

That's going the other way. Republicans don't really have that issue because Republicans fall in line. I think many dems would just stay home especially minorities due to his record with minorities.

I'm not voting for a Republican as the Democratic nominee because the moderates and big money are terrified of the change they claim to want. I'm not the one with the problem. The people who stand for nothing are the problem.

Why is that any of your business ?
Let Bernie be VP

Because we on the left follow rules while republicans blast through them and we dont want our side acting like republicans. That's why its our business.

A good site to see the bilge coming from bernie bros is ‘Common Dreams’.

Bloomberg is the reason the state of Virginia is BLUE, not that puritanical regressives know this or care.

What will hurt Bloomberg the most is his past racist comments, and stop and frisk. While Republican voters elected Trump because of his birtherism and race baiting drivel he spewed throughout the primaries, and didn't give a **** about his shady past, that kind of antics won't fly with the Democratic base, especially minorities, as it shouldn't. Bloomberg has the resources to and money to easily beat Trump (and Trump knows this), but his past will be his downfall, and it's why ultimately I believe he won't win the nomination.
