Rotten, Broken and corrupted

Do you believe that our social, financial and moral system is rotten and broken?

You'll see European pundits being interviewed about America from time to time.

They all say the end of America is near.

They've been saying this for the last 200 years. I suppose one day they'll be right, but that day is at least a thousand years off.

When the temple will be fallen, it will happen over everybody heads. Americans or European, it doesn't matter.

The OP also is fundamentally a lie. The water supply and system of Flint Michigan has been totally controlled by local and state DEMOCRATIC PARTY elected officials for decades.

Yes, the Democratic Party does not care about people - and certainly not the black people of Flint Michigan. But those people stay there and vote for those Democrats anyway. So they victimized themselves and continued to vote for self victimization. For many Democrats, nothing matters more than seeking out any way to make themselves a victim believing this gives them superior victim's rights.

That is not true. Republicans isn't any better than Democrats in caring for the ordinary people.

The current sitauation is not good but it would depend on what your alternative system to fix it is?

The problem is that i don't see any alternative system appearing in the horizon

No, Gov Snyder, a republican, usurped local dems with "emergency managers".

Apparently, you are not paying attention.

The systems suck because the people tend to suck. The best way to think of Americans is that we are junkies who need to hit bottom before we can get better. Just look at how ignorant lazy and cruel the average person is, how they look out for themselves and their ego not what is best and not what is true.

I agree with you

Scottish historian Alexander Fraser Tytler believed that democratic forms of government such as those of Greece and Rome "have a natural evolution from initial virtue toward eventual corruption and decline."

"A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship. The average age of the world's greatest civilizations has been 200 years."

History reveals that to be true. But, dictatorships either collapse, or the oppressed revolt.

The promised land will only arrive when the aggregate consciousness of mankind evolves to a level that peace on earth can flourish.

Unfortunately, that might be a long ways off. Mankind, via wars and pollution, will become extinct, no doubt, before that can happen.

The cockroaches will be smiling, when that day happens.

I hear people talking about how the system is Rotten. I do believe that is true. However, No Rotten system can survive without Rotten people. The so-called democratic system is rotten from its roots. Americans keep electing corrupted congress and senate members regardless of their prior knowledge that these members represent the interest of their cronies in corporations and Wall Street banks. Congress and Senate members are receiving money from lobbyists, and they aren't hiding it. A system that money able to buy it shouldn't be called democratic.

Our economic and financial system is rotten. American Administrations started from Reagan removed slowly but steadily any regularity designated to control Wall Street banks and keep them away from gambling with people retirement and pensions. Most recently, Donald Trump issued two executive orders, the first one related to Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and the consumer protection act, while the second related to the law's Volcker rule. American people brought misery upon themselves by trusting these rotten institutions, systems and officials. Does anybody recognize what happened in 2007/2008 and how many bankers went to jail as a result? American taxpayers paid over 800 million dollars to save financial institutions that gamble with people's money. These institution CEO's aren't elected by people by any means. The Federal reserve bank isn't a government institution, and people running the show there isn't elected. The head of the treasury department can't enter the FDR bank in NewYork or their branches in the state without its chairmen's approval.

Our family and social values are broken. Drugs take over the streets, government wage war on people, not drugs. It is just another pretext to restrict people's freedoms. Governments running a covert operation abroad, spying on each other and taping people's conversations across the oceans, but can't control their streets. Human trafficking is an industry worth hundreds of billions of dollars each year. It is another example of how streets are spinning out of control, and how law enforcement agencies worry about unfinished paperwork than saving the victims. Watching documentaries like Tricked(2003) forced me to feel the horror of not only the victims but their families too. I can't believe that pimps, another terminology metaphor for a human trafficker, hold meetings and parties in broad daylight in front of law enforcement agencies that they don't make any arrest regardless of human trafficking victims exist in the place.

Capitalism is corrupted, people manipulate it. Everything is commoditized; Water, electricity, health care, grains, garlic, Cacao and you name it are subjected to a ruthless and faceless profit regime. It isn't supply and demand or market, it is manipulative and monopolistic. When the prices of Cacao on the international market goes up, companies pass it to the consumers and pressure the poor farmers to accept less money for their produce. But, when the prices on the international market go down, companies pocket the profit, and the price of the final product won't go along with it. Health care is another example of a greedy and selfish system. The United States is the only industrial country without universal health care. American media call countries with such a system different names, communist and socialist is an example. Mark Styen in the "America Alone" book linked between citizens paying for their health care with western civilization survives in the struggle with Islamic expansion worldwide.

The system we live in is Rotten with all kind of manipulated practices. But why not? Everybody seems to do it. Value Village posts as a charity and non-profit asking people to drop unwanted cloth and furniture. However, the company found to make a profit of one billion dollars a year. Other stores that sell discounted brands merchandise lied on their customers, selling them average quality merchandise. people on the internet making living by posing with a review for products they never use, who cares? No regularity to hold them accountable nor the companies paying for them.

Flint is just a little example of an ugly reality that people live daily. The glorious almighty country can't solve a water problem of a small town in Michigan. You know, Bill Gates and Mark Zuckerberg don't own houses there. Flint residents are just a number to be called by these rotten politicians just before the election, promises are made but no action on the ground. The politicians themselves are on the payroll by corporations and their lobbyists to keep silent. Nestle, the famous bottle water company, pumps millions of gallons of Michigan springs and wells paying fraction making extremely huge profits. However, after more than 5 years, the town of Flint, Michigan still without clean water.

End

I understand Venezuela has room.

The advancement of mankind has usually been two steps forward, one step back. I think we are currently in a "one step back" phase, but I have faith the "two steps forward" will follow.

And your Solution is what?

The advancement of mankind has usually been two steps forward, one step back. I think we are currently in a "one step back" phase, but I have faith the "two steps forward" will follow.

I wish that you are right. However, I do believe since the 80th, the world is one step back.

1000? Nah. Maybe 50.

I wish that you are right. However, I do believe since the 80th, the world is one step back.

Not sure what "80th" means, but these cycles can spread 50-100 years.

Remember that China curse "May you live in interesting times"? Enjoy! :D

A room for what exactly?

For ll the socialist wannabees here. Their population has diminished because those greedy people left so you can probably find a house there real cheap.

Oh, they need people to grow food and stuff because the shelves are bare, so all those with farming skills will be welcome. Of course, the collective won't really pay you, but that's the equality and fairness we in America are striving for, isn't it?

Do you have a solution? if you have one, let everybody know in order to discuss it.

It is your topic, I will assume you have no solutions and are just complaining, noted.

There are two issues to consider here.

The first is the actual degree of 'rottenness' or 'corruption' in specific sections of our society. It can be difficult to evaluate in some of these because of problems in devising an agreed-upon measuring stick. This is particularly true in, say, 'morals'.

The second is the perception of the degree by the citizens themselves. It can be argued that once people begin to lose faith in a society's institutions those institutions, and in fact the society itself, is in grave danger.

You do realize that what you were talking about is a very large percentage of the people attempting to win the DNC nominations claimed public policy goals and just the lefts general policy ideas.

Free college
Free health care
Guaranteed basic income
Reparations for African Americans and illegal immigrants.
Just to name a few

Yes, I "do realize" that the things you itemized are a combination of the manifesto of the candidates. What does my knowledge have to do with my personal choice of candidate? I'm an independent thinker and use my knowledge, not that of someone else, to decide which candidate I will support.

I just find it funny that you support candidates who’s policies you seem to believe will bring about the end of a democracy.

How in the hell would you know who I support? And by the way, it's your boy Trump that has done everything he can to power-grab and demolish our democracy. Haven't you read the news or seen something other than Fox? You people are just deflective and in denial of facts. Why would 1,100 former justice dept lawyers who know the laws and our constitution upside down, backwards and inside out, demand Barr's removal? Get your head into the light and read.

He thinks he can do anything and so far he is and the republicans in Senate don't have the balls to stop him. He even went so far as to say recently that Article II of the Constitution gives him unlimited power to “do anything he wants”. He's not dictator yet, but he acts like one. He' s nothing more than an elected official who needs to understand that he is only one part of three separate and co-equal branches of a Democratic Republic with specific and limited powers and distinct responsibilities along with certain rules in the law that he took an oath to uphold. He's too stupid to understand the Constitution and he's too criminal to be entrusted with the national security of this country.

The right wing simply does not believe the Poor are "worth it" under Capitalism.

Equal protection of the law for unemployment compensation in our at-will employment States is what the Poor need.

Anyone who has been here more then a day know you are a far left wing individual so the particular individual you might be voting for is irrelevant.

And trump is about as much my boy as he is yours and I can’t wait till he is out of office.

But that’s an extremely weak attempt at deflection though.

So tell us why you support a candidate who supports policies you admit will end a democracy

Please do your best and stay on topic this time though I know it will be very hard for you.

Okay so you proved my point. You make a list of the policies of Bernie Sanders and make the assumption that I am a Bernie supporter. You should try to avoid making the mistake of judging others without any evidence, as you had done with me.
