New Hampshire Primary Thread

Republicans on the other hand, are the party of the nearly dead, so of course they will put in a senile old pants crapping geezer like Dump.

I won’t bore you with all the reasons I believe the GOP is stronger than ever. However, I will implore you to do everything you can to elect a Sen. Mark Kelly and flip one of your state chambers.

Keep an eye on the new gerrymandering AZ is trying to pull where they don’t count non-citizens when they remap next year. GOTV in CDs 3 & 7 remains a most difficult task.

What are you on about? Yea...the NH Primary made the Iowa Caucus look like a Marx Brothers movie, maybe "A Day at the Races"
You said you like competent people. Trump is highly competent.

The other is about Sanders and Buttigieg, assuming Warren and Biden are out of the picture. Sanders is genuine, but not competent.

Good job New Hampshire. You just voted for someone that will hand another 4 years to Donald Trump. Idiots.

He's copying the Obama cadence but it isn't quite perfect.

His crowd isn't cooperating to fill some of those pauses which is why I think it sometimes feels awkward. But I think as the speech went on, the crowd caught on better.

Pretty sure you'd have said that no matter who won.

Now let's hear the winner, Bernie Sanders. Congratulations, Bernie

If Sanders picks well his veep, especially if she is a female of color, his chances against Trump will improve. I was very convinced that he couldn't beat Trump but lately I'm not as convinced. Uphill battle sure, but not impossible. And if not him who does generate enthusiasm, then who? Amy is great but kind of bland. I'm afraid that when it becomes clear to all voters that Pete has a husband, they won't vote for him. Biden is falling apart. Warren is falling apart.
This is a great analysis. I think Mayor Pete might actually have the best shot on the debate stage (along with Sanders). He really strikes me as sort of a new kind of J.F.K. for the new millennium. He very much does represent the new America, and is a pretty complete package with his military service, Harvard education, youth, and soaring patriotic rhetoric.

As to whether his homosexuality precludes him nationally, I thought so too. But he is an avowed Christian who espouses Christianity, and most importantly is married. I think his being in a Christian marriage might give him an advantage over if he were an unmarried gay man. He just might be accepted. But I'm not sure of that. However he did win me over, that's for sure.

Gotta try new things?
Yep. Worst thing in life is to stagnate. You always gotta' move forward. There's just too many things in life to experience, and too many possible new friends to meet ...

Number of votes Bernie Sanders won in New Hampshire in 2016 against the Clinton Machine: 152,193

Number of votes Bernie Sanders is currently tracking on winning tonight in New Hampshire against relative unknowns: 52,930

Sanders lost 100,000 voters to newcomers.

There are more candidates to choose from. Clinton was historically unpopular and Sanders benefited a lot from that.
Yep. When it was only two candidates, there was only one way to go if you didn't like Hillary (which was many of us).

Sanders isn't even my third choice, but let's not piss on his supporters picnic like many of his supporters did to Buttigieg in Iowa.

Yep, disastrous night overall for him, but his delusional supporters will still revel in the 1% victory to no named candidates.

Bernie also congratulates the other candidates and says that we'll all support whoever wins the nomination. He does direct a jab at Bloomberg without citing him, by speaking against billionaire candidates.

I agree with nearly all you've said and it might be a smart option if Klobuchar is the final winner to choose Buttigieg as her VP running mate. They're both centrists and would mesh well. The selection of a VP is going to be more important than ever before, especially if a woman is the candidate.

In my opinion, Pete Buttigieg is a great candidate and highly underrated because his experience was only that of being the mayor of South Bend. Harry Truman was just a district judge in Missouri before being elected to the Senate. But Buttigieg is a graduate of Harvard, and being a Rhodes scholar, an Oxford University graduate. He could actually be a "very stable genius". This country could do a whole lot worse than electing someone like Pete Buttigieg, like.... reelecting Trump

Nope, the more moderate candidates certainly have a better chance.

Disagree. Sliding slightly right doesn't win over people voting for a candidate on the right. Pulling votes isn't a matter of being a sliding scale as much as pundits tend to say it is.

Note: I'm not breaking out the Mayor Pete really won conspiracy theories, I'm just stating facts. Sanders did win, but he barely won the state next to his. He won't get much more momentum out of this either.

As of now 66,854, and you are comparing apples and oranges, a 2-way race versus a 9-way race.

Buttigieg didn't piss on Bernie supporters in Iowa? He declared victory with no results in and got a week long love fest with the MSM because of it. Turns out he lost the popular vote and the delegate count is still being looked at. I'm glad he kept his ego in check with his speech tonight. It was a good speech and was appropriate.

First place is just awful. What a massive fail coming in first.

Yeah but Clinton had a 9 armed oligarch octopus and according to most sanders supporters a "rigged system." He should be doing way better against people who don't have that and a DNC that has no idea what to do. I would say Sanders did the bare minimum to win here.
