[W:399]The truth about Bootygig's mitary service

Apdst is now actually reading that Hill document and realizing his error.

It's confounding that anyone who claims to have served in the military would show unwavering support for a man who has mocked the heroism of POWs, questioned the patriotism of a Purple Heart recipient, and repeatedly stated that he knows more about the situation on the ground than then men and women actually serving there.

Now, there could be a few different explanations for that. I guess each of us will have to figure out for themselves why that is.

In fact, I’d bet money that apdst didn’t read the link in the OP due to the paywall. Some right wing blogger linked this article and claimed this was proof of some unspecified lie. He didn’t check. Because of course he didn’t

Son, I read that before you even posted it.

He talks about "crossing the wire" but he didn't receive the Navy's combat award.

Apdst is now actually reading that Hill document and realizing his error.

...trying to find some number other than "119 times".

He talks about "crossing the wire" but he didn't receive the Navy's combat award.

And? He hasn’t claimed to have seen combat.

Bootygig was given his commission. He didn't earn it. He's a fake soldier.

He lied about his service. He's done.

Your supposed bombshell article from the WSJ is behind a paywall. Please share with us the sections that assert he didn't earn his commission and that he lied about his service.

I've not seen these accusations before; I'd like to see what they are based on.

Don't be an ass. Nothing in that contradicts what he's said.
This is jyst more of your bull****.

Buttjudge lied about his service. Deal with it.

It says he went through officers training at camp McCrady worked his way to lieutenant ans asked to go to a combat zone where they needed someone in his field. He likely never saw combat, I don't think he ever claimed to see combat, but he was in an area where he could have been killed.

What are you saying he lied about exactly?

That isn't what it says. You're lying.

Yes he did...

This doesn’t mention combat. Two paragraphs later, again, FROM YOUR OWN LINK

Buttigieg has not claimed to have been involved in direct combat, but he has written at length about the dangers he faced in the unpredictable environs in downtown Kabul, where stops at checkpoints or encounters on the street could turn deadly.

Buddy, I always had my suspicions but this thread proved to my satisfaction the truth about your service claims.

He received a direct commission. He wasn't a real officer.

Nonsense. The Direct Commission Officer program is a legitimate source of commissioned officers:

A direct commission officer (DCO) is a United States uniformed officer who has received a commission without the typical prerequisites for achieving a commission, such as attending a four-year service academy, a four-year or two-year college ROTC program, or one of the officer candidate school or officer training school programs, the latter OCS/OTS programs typically slightly over three months in length.

Civilians who have special skills that are critical to sustaining military operations, supporting troops, health and scientific study may receive a direct commission upon entering service. These officers usually occupy leadership positions in the following areas: law, science, medicine, pharmacy, dentistry, nurse corps, intelligence, supply-logistics-transportation, engineering, public affairs, chaplain corps, oceanography, merchant marine affairs, and others.

As someone who got his commission via OCS (actually AOCS in Pensacola), I can tell you that missing those three months (often sarcastically referred to as "Knife and Fork School" by enlisted folks) hardly makes anyone less legitimate an officer.

Oof. Something I have never done for political purposes is criticize the military service of any person of any political persuasion. That's disrespectful to the individual and to the armed forces in general. Calling a gay man Booty-whatever is also about as classless as it gets.

He was an officer in Naval Intelligence. It takes a true wannabe to disparage any honourable service.

I agree with you. Clearly nothing is sacred at all anymore, but denigrating any person's military service is bottom feeder behavior.
