The 27-year-old Florida man who police say drove a van into a tent that housed supporters for President Trump reportedly arrived in court on Sunday smiling and nodding to the cameras before he was seated, a report said.


Action News Jax reported that Gregory Timm, according to witnesses, ran over chairs and tables the day before at the Kernan Village shopping center. Witnesses told the station that he recorded the scene moments after the incident, made an obscene gesture and sped off.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said via social media that 27-year-old Gregory William Loel Timm has been charged with two counts of aggravated assault on a person 65 years old or older, one count of criminal mischief and driving with a suspended license. The Republican party of Duval County said it had set up the tent on Saturday in order to register voters.

Witnesses told the station that he recorded the scene moments after the incident, made an obscene gesture and sped off.

“Kind of out of the blue, a man approached us in a van, was waving at us, kind of a friendly demeanor, thought he was coming up to talk to us, instead he accelerated his vehicle and plowed right into our tent, our tables,” volunteer Mark Alfieri told television station WJAX.

Yep, our vehicle control laws need to be stiffened considerably. Of course, one feels no less pain or suffering if they are run down by a properly licensed driver.

Of course it's not, we all should (must?) come to realize that vehicle crime is going to continue until we ban these assault vehicles. ;)

The van had an automatic transmission. Probably couldn't have done this with a manual. At least the van wasn't black. We can take some comfort with that, anyway.

I read that it was tan, so racially it was neutral.

Did you realize that you can rent these things? Who thought that was a good idea?
 
I also heard a rumor that the van was yelling, "Okay, Boomer!" when it attacked.

At least we can agree that the evil van was the root cause of this crime. We must rid our communities of these evil assault vans or it is only a matter of time before they cause others to commit such acts of senseless violence. ;)

Curtains. That's the most telling thing. I believe "window treatments" is currently more popular. I'm cool with that. I had shingle treatments once.

No doubt. Registration, background checks, licensing, proper locks...we know the drill. I'm pretty concerned about wide tires, too.

Yep, since they were fugitives from justice and able to use full auto weapons in a dense urban envronment while never causing any collateral damage. There ability to engage in all manner of violations of traffic and weapons laws wihout ever being arrested - they were quite visible to all except LEOs.
