Did Trump"get away with it" again?

Wasn't anything to "get away with". Why would he be "free to do anything"? Impeachment is not a "one and done" scenario. The only thing this prevents is bull****, halfcocked, ultrapartisan, butthurt, revenge-stoked new impeachment attempts. He's still subject to lawful impeachments, not uttering a few innocuous words on a phone call.

Do any of you people ever watch anything but Faux news. Trump violated the law by withholding those payments. The GAO, in case you do not know it is a nonpartisan government watch dog group, said Trump did when he withheld the funds. Geez, pitiful!!!

By every objective measure, so far Trump has been the best modern-day President. But what really drives Leftist like you insane is that by every objective measure, Obama was the worst modern-day President, and with the two Presidents so close in time to each other it’s easy for everyone to compare them.

Lets see, he has increased our national debt to the breaking point by giving a huge tax cut to his wealthy friends. He has isolated us from our allies and I doubt if we got in trouble any would come to our help. The economy he likes to boast about was given to him by Obama as every economist will tell you and at least he has not anything too bad to hurt it. His stupid tariff wars have done nothing as he has had to give in to both Mexico and Canada and again China to get some kind of deal. Those tariffwars have hurt so many farmers that in my state alone we have lost over 800 farms in just 2019 and thousands of farmers are commiting suicide after losing their farms. He is spending billions from the increase in military spending on the wall some of which have already fallen over. And even with the spending our militay is falling behind when it comes to many military equipment upgrades. Both the Chinese and even the Russian are surging ahead of us in some areas including hypersonic missle systems. And he bragged last night about new meds, many of which no one can longer afford to buy. Many can not even afford really old meds like insulin and he and the GOP will do nothing to help. what did McConnell call it, socalism. Trump will a;so soon kick 30-50 million people off heir health insurance and probably cut Medicare and Socail Security rahter than admit his tax cuts were a mistake. I could go on, but how did you decide this man was the greatest president ever? Pitiful!!!!!

Sir you are living an alternate reality! Either that you have some really good weed there!

Even many of the Gopers have said that trump did what the House said, but they are voting to acquit him for varied reasons. The major one seems to be although he did something wrong, it was not "bad"enough to warrant him being forced out of office. So once again like most of his life, trump seems to have done it, but gotten away with it. People have said to me tht he will always be known as one of the president's that were impeached, but I look at Clinton and say, so what. So what now? Will the GOP try and control his actions or just let him do as he wants? Everyone knows that impeachment will not control his actions in any way and now he knows he is free to do anything and he will get away with again..

He didn't do anything to "get away with".

Yankee is correct that Trump can't be convicted of abusing his power of office. Now the only thing he can be convicted of is evading taxes in New York.

Oh there are other things. Campaign finance law violations, money laundering, fraud etc. Don't forget he was the other sealed defendent in the thing that was instrumental in sending Cohen to prison. Was referred to as Individual # 1 or something. Lucky for him he couldn't be indicted while in office.

Lies, likes, and more lies. Every Republican voting against impeachment in the House of Representatives (and what they said during the hearings) should tell you something: all they cared about was keeping their man in office. Democrats OTOH asked bipartisan questions and never displayed a liberal bias in their word choices. If you watched the hearings, it is obvious only Republicans were biased.

This impeachment debacle was nothing more than political revenge because Trump won the election.

Acquitted today, and he'll still be acquitted tomorrow. And the next.

Maybe congressional leftists will actually start working for the country, instead of their party, after this miserable defeat? Time will tell.
Senate is back to work

This was a one party impeachment, much like Bill Clinton's. One party impeachment doesn't work. Unless you have approximately 60% of all Americans behind impeachment and removal, it won't work. To break it down even more, you need 60% of all of America, 55% of independents, around a third of the president's party in order to have a successful impeachment. Neither Bill Clinton's nor Trump's impeachment came close to those numbers.

Did Trump's actions warrant impeachment? I don't think it matters. The Democratic controlled house was going to impeach him whether Trump's action warranted or didn't warrant impeachment. The Republican controlled senate was going to acquit him whether or not the impeachment was warranted or not.

The Democrats arguments and case for impeachment failed to convince one addition person that wasn't already convince back when the these hearings started on 13 Nov. In fact they lost ground. On 13 Nov it was 48% for impeachment and removal, 45% against. Today, it is 47% for impeachment and removal, 48% against. All of this and all it accomplished was a four point swing from plus 3 for removal to minus 1.

The numbers were never there. It was bound to fail, it was guaranteed to fail. This whole impeachment thing may have backfired some on the Democrats much like it did when the Republicans impeached Bill Clinton. The results of a one party, not America as a whole impeachment.

It is obvious only Republicans were working for their party. I paid close attention to the story so I would know if Republicans were able to disprove anything Democrats found was a bunch of fictional tales. They never did because they knew all of the evidence was correct.

It is obvious only Republicans were working for their party. I paid close attention to the story and NOT ONCE did Republicans prove all of the evidence was lies, while Democrats proved all evidence was correct.

And they still did it while being stonewalled by the Whitehouse.

And don't forget what a farce a trial without witnesses is.

Sure it was. Trump is a pure as the white snow. :lamo

Prove me wrong. You can't.

.......

Over three days, February 1–3, House managers took videotaped closed-door depositions from Monica Lewinsky, Clinton's friend Vernon Jordan, and White House aide Sidney Blumenthal. On February 4, however, the Senate voted 70–30 that excerpting these videotapes would suffice as testimony, rather than calling live witnesses to appear at trial.

He's cleaner that any other recent president. There's no way Obama would have held up to the same level of scrutiny that Trump has.

4 years of constant investigation and they've found nothing...lol

I was looking forward to watching the entire trial. Then came all the reports about Republicans blocking witnesses, refusing to see evidence, refusing to let Democrats subpoena anyone, Mitch McConnell brokering a deal with Donald Trump on how to proceed . . . need I say more? It made me, not as a Democrat but as a knowledgeable voter, not want to watch the trial anymore.

Thanks for proving my point Depositions are witnesses. You didn't know that?

There was no witness testimony during the trial. Stop lying.
