The Dems are saying that the GOP in the Senate has given Trump carte blanche to do anything he wants without fear of retaliation, including going to other over seas governments for both money and dirt on his opponents. The Dems say that Trump said he can do as he wants as president under Article 2 of the constitution and now the GOP has said, "yes you can", with this acquital. The GOP has kind of remained silent on these assertions by the Dems. So the question is, are the Dems right in that the GOP has given Trump carte blanche to do anything he wants without fear of retaliation or even push back?

The Obama Admin didn't need to face an impeachment and failed removal to search overseas for dirt on Mr. Trump.
I fail to see why now we should be concerned about why an impeachment and failed removal should concern us whether it would embolden the Trump Admin to do the same as did the Obama Admin.

Yes. As long as the GOP controls the Senate, Trump will be empowered to do as he ****ing pleases.

I think he's learned his lesson.

I bet in the business world they ask each other to do favors all the time.

Like that makes any sense. If that were true then I guess sticking cigars in the vaginas of 22 year old interns in the oval office should be good to go since Clinton wasn't removed either.

I mean, Trump pretty much does do whatever he wants. But I do think he's going to be emboldened by this, and we have seen now that the GOP-Partisans will go to any length to defend him in those actions.

No it won't. if you want to remove a president from office you better have some serious evidence other than.
well we think he might have and i just assumed.

you might want to have people that were actually there testify instead of people testifying that were removed or
replaced before the event even started..

ABSOLUTELY!!!

His first call on Thursday morning will be to Putin, we're good to go bring on all the help you can, I'll let you know where we need it. Our internal polling will be on your desk in the morning...

I think he's learned his lesson.

I bet in the business world they ask each other to do favors all the time.

What lesson has been learned by Senate Republicans lining up to sacrifice their legacies in order to prevent any pretense of oversight into his conduct? They basically said he did what he did, but they didn't care to learn any more about it or even discuss it.

That doesn't teach a lesson. It reinforces negative behavior.

You fail to see an awful lot...

Multiple Republicans in the Senate all but admitted the House Managers proved their case and Trump did what he did, but essentially stated they didn't care.

And exactly what does that have to do with protecting our elections from foreign influence, or endangered national security?

That was between him and his wife, and none of our ****ing business!!!

Ever heard of consenting adults???

Not really the senate requires evidence. you know that thing that people do in order to prove something happened.

Police charges someone with a crime they have to have evidence of that crime. Yeah he robbed the bank.
here is the van he drove, here is the money he got caught with. the money has the same numbers as the one missing from the bank.

you know evidence.

going umm well i think he robbed the bank. what evidence do you have?
well i just assumed he robbed the bank. that is not evidence.

They require evidence? Then why are they going to vote against witnesses?

Ever heard of consenting adults???

Ever heard of Clinton being impeached because he lied about his affair with a 22 year old intern in the oval office?

Ever heard of Clinton not being removed for his behavior in the oval office?

So since he was convicted of lying about his sexual conduct in the oval office but not removed from office for his sexual conduct in the oval office,
everyone is now good to go with 22 year old interns in the oval office?

Trump said he can do anything he wants and the Senate just confirmed it. So yes.

I'll take it over risking our national security and corrupting our elections in a heartbeat. Who wouldn't?

It had no effect on our nation's interest, it should have never come up at all.

Clinton's mistake when asked about Monica should have been, " none of your ****ing business, tbats a private issue between Hillary and I. Next question"...

I know i'm pissing up a blustery rope here, but, fwiw...
The USIC during Obama's tenure ≠ Obama
Just as USDOJ during Trump's tenure ≠ Trump

During Obama's tenure the members of the USIC opened investigations into the various criminals in Trump's campaign

If, during Trump's tenure, members of the USIC opened an investigation into Biden, it would've been different.
If, during Trump's tenure, members of the USDOJ opened an investigation into Biden, it would've been different.

Neither of those things happened though, did they?
During Trump's tenure Trump tried to make an announcement of an investigation a condition for receiving US aid.

So, in one case,
Trump [literally Trump, Trump the person] tried to condition US aid to prompt an announcement of an investigation,
and in the other case,
various members of the USIC acted as part of their duties to open investigations into the various criminals in Trump's campaign.

I wish that were sufficient to convey some of the significant differences between the two events.

Also, fwiw, a simple majority of a single GOP Senate committee can open investigations int the Biden business whenever they fee like it.
The information about the Bidens has been public since the Obama years.
When do you suppose the GOP Senate (or Trump_DOJ) will get around to opening an investigation into the Biden business?

Yup. Anything. Isn't it awful? I really don't know what to do...Lunch? Anyone?

I think he's learned his lesson.
You do?

Because of Trump's sincere expression of his contrition?

Or what exactly?

Afaik, Trump said what he did was "perfect" and that he did nothing wrong.

So, what lesson would he have learned?

There is always a double standard. He lied, he got caught, and he wasn't removed.

He was also convinced of 3 felony crimes and lost his law license over it but wasn't removed from office.

Trump wasn't even accused of any crimes in the article.

So does that mean the Democrats in the Senate were all involved in a coverup for not removing Clinton with felony convictions or does that kind of thinking only work when its a Republican president who has no crimes listed to vote on?

Never, the same reason they really did not want the Bidens to testify, that was a bluff.

They know if actually Investigated, again they would come out clean, again .

That would completely destroy their conspiracy theory they are riding so very hard right now...

Well that's just too bad since they proved that never happened with their own witnesses.
