It was a bit of hyperbole and rhetoric. The same tactic employed by liberals on a daily basis when it comes to Trump and conservatives.

Under current rules, this group is required to work at least 20 hours a week for more than three months over a 36-month period to qualify for food stamps, but states have been able to create waivers for areas that face high unemployment.

I'm also a taxpayer and I don't want my tax dollars being funneled to parasite red states. But the greater good can be more important than having as much stuff for oneself as one can. :shrug:
