All of Michael Bloomberg's money, all his billions and billions of dollars will be useless, at least in terms of holding political office, if nobody votes for him. So lets do the world a favor everybody and not vote for him. He has terrible ideas.

He wants to ban the sale of soda pop in large quantities, he wants to ban certain types of headphones, and he wants to enact some of the most restrictive gun control to list some of his more terrible ideas.

The worst thing about Bloomberg is he's a real life Manchurian candidate who, despite multiple ongoing genocides perpetrated by China, institutionalized and strict blanket surveillance and censorship, and popular and brutally suppressed discontent in Hong Kong, vehemently and absurdly insists that Xi is not a dictator and that the CPC rules by the consent of its people.

Yes, some of them were crazy. As a mayor one has time to look at things like drinks and headphones.
Politicians come up with crazy stuff all the time. What is important is how many of the crazy ideas actually make it to law.

He is not my first choice but will have to see how his ideas compare to Trumps. Like having Mexico pay for the wall. Have not seen much lower health care cost yet, my taxes are about the same as past few years. But hey, we are getting a space force.

oooookay...

I am not thrilled that Bloomberg basically throws huge sums at elections, and he did make some big mistakes. What you listed are definitely not among them.

Generally speaking, though, he's a pro-business centrist and a technocrat. He encouraged lots of development, pedestrian and bike infrastructure. Banning smoking in bars and restaurants was huge. He certainly isn't a screaming liberal. Heck, his first term in office he ran as a Republican.

The soda law specifically targeted open cup servings of 16 ounces or more. While it is definitely a Nanny State move, it's not dumb. I really cannot imagine why any sane person would want to suck down 32 ounces of soda while watching a movie.

He never passed any laws on headphones. It was a social media campaign against listening to headphones too loud.

He's definitely in favor of gun control. It is highly likely that strict gun control laws have resulted in NYC having a relatively low crime rate. So with that one, he's not wrong.

IMO the worst thing he did was push for Stop & Frisk, and he had the whole "Broken Windows" theory very wrong. He recently recognized that it was the wrong policy. But he certainly was nowhere near as racist as his predecessor (Rudy Giuliani).

He's not my first choice, but he is definitely a reasonable choice.

he's too much. i don't think that i can vote for him even if the other choice is Dimbulb J. Impeachypeach. at that point, it's sort of "**** politics, good luck, guys and gals" for me. i have one vote, and that one vote can't stop a flood of idiots from ****ing up.

I don't know him well, but I don't intend to do the work to get to know him. If he wanted me to get to know him , he would have showed up in the debates . Its pretty unlikely I will want to reward candidates for dodging debates.

He isn't going to be the Democrat's candidate and he knows it. But if he is I'll take him and his soda ban over Trump and his corruption, compulsive lying, and general debasement of everything he touches.

Give up on politics after you vote for him and against Trump.

For me?

So what, giving a massive tax break to rich people and corporations that don't need it resulting in epic deficits is a good idea?

Raising taxes on blue states that did not vote for Trump, and lowering taxes on those that did vote for Trump, this is a good idea?

Prosecuting first time crossers and separating their children from them such that they no longer have a way to get back together with them is a good idea?

The repeal of over 100 environmental regulations that keep Americans healthy is a good idea?

Withholding military aid so that he can get Ukraine to help Trump out with his political campaign was a good idea?

Firing a long time ambassador with stellar reputation without even knowing that ambassadors name nor anything about that ambassador based on the off the cuff comment of a Ukrainian hired Giuliani, whom Trump hardly knows, this is a good idea? ( see the tape of the Parnas/Trump conversation about Yovanovitch ).

Hiring Giuliani to take over policy in Ukraine was a good idea?

Whom do you recommend we vote for?

He'll give up on those, you can bet on it.

i don't think that i can, man. if Democrats are dumb enough to run him, then they haven't learned anything. i mean, everyone has a "**** this" point.

I don't know too much about the guy and he is not my top pick but I don't understand this complaint...

Why is that bad? It is better to throw other people's money at elections that your own? I just don't get this complaint I keep hearing. So, he is not asking people for their hard earned money and willing to bet his own (unlike Trump by the way) and that's bad?

Why would his personal money be needed for him to, hold public office?

I'd rather have Bloomberg than I would Trump, but my first choice is Bernie. His ideas are pretty generic.

I will vote for him 2 or 3 times. My dead grandparents might as well. ;)

As governor of Vermont he doesn't set a good example, particularly his ban on magazines that hold over 10 rounds.

I think they should be allowed to sell soda pop, but it should be labeled POISON.

Those drinks are a leading cause of sickness and death. Sugary soft drinks and cigarettes probably drive up the cost of health insurance more than anything else. Why should all of us have to pay for these horrible addictions?

Cigarettes yes but as for soft drinks? They are way too much a part of American culture. They're as much a part of American culture as hot dogs, hamburgers, guns, and baseball. They will never go away, at least not in this country.

don't forget booze, illegal drug use, right?

Bloomberg is a very typical progressive, i.e. he believes he knows how to run your life better than you do.

It would not surprise me if he were to get the nomination. He is progressive on just about every issue.

Not sure he is a progressive. More like a social liberal and economic conservative. What I would call a classic boomer Democrat.

He was not born into great wealth, but developed a product that has been a must for many in finance for decades.

Not perfect, but show me a politician who is.

It's bad because it is another step towards a plutocracy. Wealthy people already have an outsized influence on our electoral process, which means we are increasingly tilted towards "rule by the rich" instead of "rule of the people." Even if said wealthy person proposes policies that I personally prefer, plutocracy is ultimately not beneficial for a democratic society.

We should also note that being wealthy hasn't actually curbed at least one person from selling out to moneyed interests....

He isn't a progressive. He's a pro-business centrist.
