I understood that after republicans made their case it would be debated whether to have witnesses and more evidence, have I or we been misled? hard to get a handle on it when that dumbass schumer starts spewing his gob. schiffy the stiffy talking b.s. lying with that bugeyed bobble headed look! talking about trump cheating in the 2020 election, what a moron. this whole sham is an affront to the American people. schiffy has said it himself the people don't got what it takes to not re-elect trump. even the democrats better take notice of his bald faced bias!

The first 48 hours is opening statements by both sides over possible of 6 days.
Next the senate will take a vote on whether or not to introduce other witnesses.

as usual democrats are liars. the senate has not voted on whether or not to have more evidence or witnesses yet.
however it could be that republicans are the only people to call witnesses and McConnell blocks democrats just
as they blocked republicans from calling witnesses in the house.
 
If by “scam” you mean ending this half baked attempt to reverse an election and change the outcome of the next election, then yes. Mitch is scamming the **** out of You.

It is a show trial sham and, in case you didn't notice, it started with a show trial indictment in the House. For all your soapbox bloviation the sober person knows this impeachment was borne in bad faith, conducted in bad faith, and is being presented and defended in bad faith.

In sum: Trump's opposition promised impeachment before he was elected, they promised it after he was elected, and for the last three years they have published numerous articles and books on the best grounds and strategy to get him before he is re-elected.

So when Mueller didn't deliver, the gang of three, Pelosi, Nadler, and Schiff found a pretext provided by a Democratic operative (aka "whistleblower") and decided to make this into a spectacle, employing the Brett Kavanaugh strategy; when your losing with your half-assed investigation always demand more "do-overs" to obtain more witnesses in the 11th hour.

So no, this circus is not a good faith impeachment, and therefore the Senate has no obligation to play along with bad faith antics. The gang of three had as much time as they wished to subpoena witnesses, to obtain court rulings, and to pursue leads. They had ample opportunity to arrive at the Senate with case developed through due diligence and professional conduct. They didn't.

Therefore the Senate majority is not going to play their transparently cynical game and do their job; they are not going to do the investigation the House was supposed to have done, and go along with the Democrats desire to turn this into an endless farce over many months. The "oh we want another witness found on a boat off Rhode Island" strategy isn't going to fly this time around.

So the bottom line is a bad faith House impeachment does not require Republicans to do anything other than take a vote and move on. To do otherwise is to act as an enabler of the Democratic leaderships deplorable and utterly political behavior.

For God's sake, quit whining. The Dems had tons of time to compile the evidence their impeachment managers are presenting - that they screwed the pooch isn't McConnell's fault.

Are you saying it isn't irrelevant? Shouldn't be entered as an evidentury exhibit?

If it's that old, doesn't it make the impeachment inquiry look evem more rigged for not accepting it as evidence?

Gotta sweep all the corruption under the rug, douse it with Febreeze and hope all the cultists forget about all the facts, evidence and proof of corruption by the traitor in the white house. The republicans need to do what it right, fair and best for this country by honoring their oaths to the America people. If they want their loyalty to go to one king or dictator, then they should move to China, N. Korea or Russia, where they are more like minded. Obviously a democracy is not what they want, if it goes against their new cult leader.

The Twitter post made it look like it was a bombshell. New information. It's kind of baked into the cake at this point. I heard many articles were entered into the record by both sides and this was reported before proceedings began.

Also, the President's lawyers are free to present a defense. If they feel this change in the timeline this is exculpatory, they could use it.

I'm not going off into a rabbit hole with you over this. I wondered why a 3 month old report was important. The topic of the thread is prevention of new evidence given in testimony by previously unheard witnesses (Bolton, Mulvaney, Robert Blair...).
