Hmm...now I know why I don't discuss politics with colleagues.

Florida man stabs, kills pro-Trump boss on turnpike during political argument

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — A worker with anti-government views fatally stabbed his Trump-supporting boss at a Florida Turnpike construction site and placed an American flag next to the body after they got into a political argument, deputies said Tuesday.

I guess there are other reasons not to talk politics at work. But, one has to be that the odds of a heated discussion becoming violent in this current political climate is highly likely, IMO.

What not to talk about with work mates:

1. Abortion
2. Religion
3. Climate Change
4. Trump
5. Hillary, Pelosi, AOC, Schiff...

Just to name a few.

I think that talking about Trump to any supporter of his should be placed on the top of the list you've made. I think things have gone beyond contentious. That's the level that divided people at their Christmas dinners in 2017. No, this has gotten out of hand so much that people are going to murder others, even friends as the guy in the article, over Trump.

I just can't emphasize it often enough. This is all part of Putin's plan to divide this country and he brilliantly pulled it off and all by using one tool, Trump.

I don't talk politics at work. There's no upside.

Passing very strict trowel control laws is the obvious answer. ;)

no way
the victim is to blame because he failed to carry his personal trowel for self defense
in other words, he was asking for it

remember, the best way to stop a trowel is with a trowel

of course there is. this is the opportunity to identify the likely assholes

There's a website called fark.com which has snarky news items in one line, with an icon such as 'funny' or 'scary' for each. Florida had so many crazy people stories that they created a "Florida" label, the only state that got its own icon.

For a random example, here's the most recent Florida item:

"Javier Ortiz, a white police officer in charge of defending officers involved in high-profile shootings of unarmed black men, has twice claimed to be black in order to get promotions. And it gets worse"

Miami police officer accused of racism defends decision to claim to be black.

Trowel crime is never going to be stopped by having more trowels. ;)

The root cause of trowel crime is the freedom to have trowels. ;)

They generally expose themselves at meetings that should have been emails.

A trump supporter and anti-government fella couldn't manage to get along ?

Maybe they couldn't agree on which part of the government they hated most.

Too much covfefe and a porta potty shortage.

If trowels were not so easily accessible, then this man might still be alive.

The furthest I'll go is state my general position which, in today's parlance, at least, would definitely be center-left. And, since I don't live in California or Connecticut, there is absolutely nothing to be gained by sharing more than the basics: Pro-LGBT, Choice, women's rights, and sensible about guns.

Just saying that much probably already gets me tagged as V. I. Lenin's long lost grandson, especially among Trumpers.

Hi, Grampa.

I've converted a centrist democrat who had no idea about Sanders to vote for him, as well as a right wing libertarian who has signed on as a pledge for Sanders as well.

Why?

Because the argument that single payer enables FREEDOM for WORKERS to change jobs without having to worry about bankruptcy due to an unforseeable accident is stronger than market fundamentalism.

I would also expect business owners to support Medicare For All since it would shift an entire cost center off their plate onto the government. Rare is a company, even with as few as a 100 employees who does not have at least a 2-3 person department or an outside agency, costing at least a 100 thousand dollars per year, handing all the insurance/benefit bull****.

And, that's not even mentioning all the times they have to tell their regular employees that they already got their raise this year, because their employer subsidized insurance premium went up 20%.
