Either the House had evidence to impeach Trump or they didn't.
They did have enough evidence to impeach Trump and they did so.
The trial before the Senate is a enirely different procedure. I know of not one court in America that would dare to impose a rule against witnesses at trial and barring new evidence that has been uncovered since the grand jury indictment. Not a one.
