They did have enough evidence to impeach Trump and they did so.

The trial before the Senate is a enirely different procedure. I know of not one court in America that would dare to impose a rule against witnesses at trial and barring new evidence that has been uncovered since the grand jury indictment. Not a one.

I think it is very telling that every Republican, moderates and all, are voting Schumer down. Schumer was relying on those moderates and he's not getting them.

The house rules were as fair for Trump as they were for Clinton. Subpoenas were issued in a timely manner. Subpoenaed officials either failed to respond at all or ran to the nearest courthouse, seeking unconstitutional relief in order to delay the inevitable order to comply fully with Congress’ lawful subpoenas.

It's nice to see the shoe on the other foot. This is what Democrats voted for when they voted to impeach. Even Nancy knew that they shouldn't impeach without getting some Republicans on board but they dragged her kicking and screaming and forced her to do it. Down deep she knew better but she didn't really have a choice. The guillotine was in the next room.

Unfortunately, like I feared, Schumer seems to have another 100 amendments up his ass and hopes to milk this **** show for as long as possible. From a FOX blog:

"... McConnell asks to stack the votes of the rest of the amendments since they are similar in nature and have yielded the same outcome. Schumer denies the request but offers to continue voting on amendments tomorrow."

It's been nothing but a show from day one. First it was the Mueller show. Then it was the House impeachment hearings live on TV while secret sessions were leaked to the media. Now Democrats are trying their best to make it a show in the Senate. That's why they didn't want the hearings to go on too late after Americans had gone to bed, because it is just a show for Americans to watch.

I have to admit this has been an impressive effort on the part of the House Floor Managers and even Schumer has distinguished himself today and tonight.

The fact is the GOP Senators and McConnell have boxed themselves into something like Dante's 3rd circle of Hell. First Mitch could not get his caucus to support the rules he wanted which were utterly draconian. What they have is not much better but it was Mitch that had to bend. Then they have been stuck watching the House Managers actually making their case while engaging in this rules and amendments process and they are just beating the President't team like a wet mule. The President's attorney's thought they would be in a process battle and were caught with their pants down. Cippilone and Sekelow have outright lied on more than one occasion making statements that could be proven as lies in real time, in the moment which is just so bad for an attorney, in front of the Chief Justice no less. Schiff has been very diplomatic in pointing these lies out as errors. But the point is made. The Trump team has been reduced to lying in ways that can be proven as lies in real time and in the moment.

McConnell just put up the surrender flag asking if the Dems would stack their amendments to which Schumer immediately said no offering that he would gladly come back tomorrow if the GOP has had enough for tonight. I suspect they will stop at some point tonight and come back tomorrow. Round 1....to the Dems.

Just stunning....Trump team completely out of gas and completely out of answers to the trap set for them today by the House Managers. When an attorney, in this case Philbin who has an hour to make an argument takes about 5 minutes you know he is in trouble.

And of course, he is lying AGAIN.

Thank you for replying with so little substantive content, while providing only a few simple-minded falsehoods - it makes correcting your ignorance nearly effortless.

First, of course the rules in the House weren't as "as fair" for Trump. In the House Clinton impeachment hearings the GOP provided the Democratic minority the shared power to call witnesses and to issue subpoenas. In addition hearings were not secretive and they weren't closed, and the full transcripts for all were available without dispute.

Second, when you don't issue a subpoena for alleged important witnesses , it is not only "untimely" it isn't serious. Contrary to your false claims, Mike Pence, Mike Pompeo, Mick Mulvaney, Giuliani, and John Bolton were all potential witnesses, and all remained unsubpoena'd for months in spite of Ms. Nancy finding time for a feckless delay for over a month after they completed a half-hearted investigation.

The result? They failed to be timely and only now want to get additional testimony in the midst of the Senate trial.

That said, be reminded that even crooks desire a fair process and hearing - one manifestly denied to Trump.

Then what is the worry by the Dems. According to you the House had as ample evidence in its impeachment file. No need for more evidence in the Senate, unless :
A. The Dems want to humiliate the President reducing his reelection chances
B. The House case is so week it needs more evidence to ensure passing in the Senate.

My point stands. The vote in the House was along party lines. imo, that is how the Senate will eventually vote. It is sad that such an event has become so political.

How many times does it have to be repeated:

Dems took McCahn to court, it took many months to get it resolved.

Dems would have to take Trump to court on every subpoena, because he's defying ALL of them.

Even if dems could win in court, and they would, once they appeared, Trump would claim, en masse, executive priviledge, and then each claim would be taken to court, ALL OVER AGAIN.

THE ONLY REASON THEY WEREN'T SUBPOENAED WAS BECAUSE OF THE SIMPLE FACT THAT TRUMP IS GAMING THE SYSTEM BY FORCING DEMS TO DRAG EVERY SUBPOENA INTO COURT, EVERY CLAIM OF EXECUTIVE PRIVILEDGE TO COURT, AND RUNNING OUT THE CLOCK.

BINGO: That is the entire strategy.

That is why Schiff & Nadler chose not to. It would make far more sense to pressure them in the Senate Trial, before cameras to the American people could see, Then they could expose Trump and McConnell's attempt to obstruct congress as Trump and Repubs engage in a massive coverup.

What the **** is Trump hiding?

He sure as hell is acting like a guilty person.
