    20 Votes to Remove

Trump has enemies. Trump broke laws. Trump is banking on a farce trial that few senators have the stomach to impose on the people. And, I can see why.

A Morning Consult/Politico poll taken this month found that 57 percent of registered voters — 71 percent of Democrats, 56 percent of independents and 40 percent of Republicans — say the GOP-controlled Senate should allow witnesses to testify at the impeachment trial....Sixty-six percent of registered voters want to see former National Security Advisor John Bolton testify...

Not many up for reelection in swing states or non-Trump Country territory have the stomach to spit in the face of those numbers. So, odds are pretty good we're gonna have a trial. And, maybe even a fair one.

Now, are there 20 GOP votes out there to throw the bum out?

That depends. Who can we count out (or count in, depending on your POV)?

Sens. Mitt Romney (Utah), Lisa Murkowski (Alaska), Susan Collins (Maine) and Lamar Alexander (Tenn) fit into that category, so too does Sen. Cory Gardner (R-Colo.).

Three more: Sens. Joni Ernst (Iowa), Martha McSally (Ariz.) and Thom Tillis (N.C.) sit precariously in blue leaning states.

    Hmm...that's 8.

Retiring Sens. Richard Burr (N.C.), Mike Enzi (Wyo.) and Pat Roberts (Kan.) are certainly wildcards. Now we have 11.

    20 sure looks doable. No?

I don't think that you will get those 20 votes. I think the best that we can hope for is that there is enough dissent within the GOP ranks to have an actual trial with witnesses. That may be achievable, but I don't see there being enough dissent to have the votes to remove. I never thought that any of this would end in removal.

Be easier if the vote is secret. Is it?
I know the voices aren't real but they do have some good ideas.

I was kind of surprised we even had an impeachment, given the risks--both ways and to the nation. But, alas...

Much will weigh on how badly they fear Trump versus hate him. Curiosity killed the cat on this for sure. For example, would Lindsey flip if he could actually gun for Trump without paying a political price. What about Cruz, Little Marco, Randy Paul...Mitch McConnell himself?

Not that I know of. It never used to be. So, I doubt it will.

Is Martha McSally the one who made a fool out of herself last week screaming at the reporter and calling him a liberal when he isn't?
It's disgraceful. I'm going to maybe and I'm looking at it very seriously. We're doing some other things that you probably noticed like some of the very important things that we're doing now. But we're looking at it very seriously because you can't do that. - President Donald J. Trump

On Graham, I doubt it. Since McCain died Graham needed an alpha male, and he's now bending over for Trump to hump him.

Rubio and Cruz seem to have fallen in behind the Emperor Trump. I wonder how Cruz's wife likes that.
