An interesting event at coffee this morning.

Five days a week my wife and I have coffee with about 20 regular attendees. This morning a lady showed up that one of the members knew. I had never met the woman before. There was some light political discussion going on. When I suggested that many democrats cant get over the fact that "her turn" Hillary didnt get elected, this woman exploded on me. She was loud uncivil and profane, and told me to shut the **** up. It is like no one can have a political view other than what the left says is ok.

My question is----------------- why is this so common among the far left?

Do you always gloat your entire lifetime?

Actually, in all serious, this is why you're not taken seriously.

That is an interesting post in response to the notion that the left gets personal.

Because they go off on emotion

Figures you'd be fine with someone claiming liberals are godless heathens that want to destroy America, but pretend to be concerned about a person who takes issue with that sort of hyperpartisan idiocy.

I just truthfully reported what happened this morning.
Are you calling me a liar????? I can send you the names of at least 10 people that heard her.

Don't bother. Not interested in your malarkey.

My sister forbids my brother in law and I from talking politics because of how loud we get. He is conservative, me liberal, and we have a great time arguing.
Curious, your brother in law I assume is your sister's husband. Is she liberal too? My family and friends used to be able to talk politics; Clinton, Bush, Obama. Not anymore. Don't ask don't tell.

Just wondering how that would work in marriage these days?

Political discourse has become a food fight.

Im quite sure that when she meets up with some of her friends, she will tell them how she tried to silence another evil person that vote for Trump.

Some time back a conservative reporter said that the left is open to all ideas, but then they are outraged to find out that there are OTHER ideas.

Here is a true anecdote. You probably won't like it since it is true:

remember the Red Hen incident, where Sarah Huckabee Sanders was asked to leave a restaurant? General reaction of most(though not all) on the left was that it was kinda inappropriate of the owner, but within her rights. Then there was the aftermath, where several restaurants with the same or similar names, where targeted by conservatives. They where spammed with bad reviews, they where vandalized(they where egged...in the words of the owner of the wrong restaurant that was egged: "which is, um, ironic — ’cause The Hen got egged"), they got death threats.

The biggest mistake made by people on both sides is assuming a few assholes represent all people on the other side. Conservatives are not racist neo-nazis for the most part, and liberals are not antifa rioters. When we lose sight of that, we make the efforts of Russia and China and others to divide us that much easier.

My sister? She is conservative but largely apolitical.

And I know several people who are married to those with opposing political views. It really is not that hard. Of the trials involved in being married, it is pretty small.

Another Liberal hit piece by you - in the form of an anecdotal fairy tale.

A more realistic scenario has you peddling Trump conspiracy nonsense and someone telling you to cram it.

I can’t standup for the authenticity of the OP but can give a similar story. In 2016 at a family event my sister went off with an expletive laced defense for HRC vs Trump.

To this day, I still don’t understand what triggered this meltdown, I hadn’t uttered a political word about the election and never get political at family events. In the end I just thought to myself how misinformed my sister is about Hilary Clinton.

In my opinion, anyone, and I mean anyone, that supports HRC in anyway is ether totally naive of her history or so partisan that they don’t care.

The amount of enabling to denigrate women that accused her husband of abuse, rape and other since his time as the governor of Arkansas is mind-blowing. With each accusation, she would put together a team to personal discredit these young girls with all the political power she could muster.

Wow! So this woman represents the entire "left"? What was her name? Who elected or appointed her as spokesperson for the "far left'?

I'm not a Democrat and I damned sure do not support Trump but I am not a Hillary supporter and never was. So was that lady speaking for me, or real Republicans who are not Trump supporters, or Independents or Libertarians or was she a spokesperson only for the "far left"?

Husband is a staunch liberal, I consider myself middle of the road. It gets lovingly lively at times.

I hear that. I am staunch conservative, and my wife is a liberal. We try not to antagonize one another too much.

It’s actually a very serious point. The left takes politics with near religious fervor. They have political saints like Harvey Milk and FDR, a political liturgical calendar with feast days like “MLK Jr day” and entire seasons like “pride month” they have infallibly defined orthodoxy like men can menstruate, and they can shun political apostates like Donald Trump (who used to be a Democrat)

Some people take themselves and their political beliefs way too seriously. That is not to say that people's moral, ideological and political principles should not be taken seriously, but I try to steer clear of fanatics who cannot stand taking a small joke at their political side's expense.

LOL! Not, it's not even remotely serious. Fun to hear that coming from a MAGA cultist who venerates and worships twump as a literal god.

I do not worship Trump as a literal god. That would be excommunicable heresy in my actual religion

I don’t think your premise or opinion holds up with todays vitriol from the left. It would be hard to source a group of strong left leaning democrats that isn’t filled with the artificial hate fed them by democratic politicians and partnered with the Left media.

The above isn’t a conspiracy theory, the DNC does work hand in hand with the willing media baying for kibble in the form of talking points.

I have a Facebook page in which I have never spoke one word about politics. I will talk about family , friends, sports, and dogs.

I have a friend who I have known since we were 5. Both of us our farmboys and veterans. He lives two states away but when we see each other which is rare now it is as if we just saw each other the weekend before.
The kindest most polite guy you could meet.
But on Facebook , holy crap. It is Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde. Facebook is becoming like here where you are anonymous and can be the biggest ass in the world if you want too.

People just take themselves too serious. I probably only got another 10-20 years left to go here so some of this crap just simply isn't worth it.

That is an interesting post in response to the notion that the left gets personal.

Even more so since I'm not on the left and it's not particularly 'personal' to make an observation based on an utterly unhinged and deeply dishonest rant.

Because Trump has broke their brains. Look, these whack jobs have been hiding in plain sight, and when Hillary lost, they began to show themselves and feel entitled to deny 63 million Americans their vote and choice of President.
I hope she's been kicked of the group.

Cool story bro. I was assaulted by a gang of kids wearing MAGA hats this morning. Why is violence among the right so common?

I believe the OP's story. Yours, not so much.
