Bloomberg is a billionaire with his sights on the Oval Office. He recently praised California's new Marxist laws as examples of where he wants to take the whole country. America does not need Marxism or this blabbering idiot with no understanding of what made America great and provided him the opportunity to amass billions of dollars in wealth.

Unlike savage barbarian communist politicians in California, God fearing patriotic Americans do not favor gun grabs by wicked politicians. Americans do not favor opening US cities to illegal immigrants and abolishing border police agencies who restrict the flow of illegal immigration. Americans do not favor getting off more of their personal income to donate to the free healthcare of illegal immigrants. Americans do not favor the legalization of hallucinogenic drugs nor the decriminalization of crime. Americans are not in favor of taking money away from American workers to give to communist nation builders overseas in the name of global warming. And so forth.

But the Bloomberg blooming idiot does support that unAmerican nonsense.

Bloomberg has less chance than St. Pete, which is to say, none.

My prayer is we will not be overtaken by crooks using illegal means to swing the 2020 election in their evil favor.

That “communist” state pays more in Federal taxes than the lowest 25 states combined as a result of being the world’s fifth largest economy. If your state gets Federal aid (and it does), then a good portion of that money came from California. You’re welcome.

California runs up huge bills, as in welcoming, housing, feeding, clothing, educating, and medicating illegal immigrants by the tens of thousands while looking to American workers across the country to pay the costs. They spend millions on climate change and demand American workers across the country pay the costs. They give away money and waste money on nonsense and expect American workers to pick up the tab. That is not very patriotic of them.

Say thank you for the Federal assistance they give your state and you’ll be a big boy.

I've paid tens of thousands of dollars in taxes over the years and politicians have somehow managed to run our country into unsustainable debt to the tune of more than $20 trillion dollars and rising. I find that irresponsible.

the state where the OP lives had an election where the Republicans won a supermajority and the governorship and those republicans immediately added sales tax to everything in sight (all new taxes that didn't exist before), stole some of that tax revenue (from richer, more liberal NC counties) and shipped that money to the poorer/rural counties represented by the very Republican Legislative Representatives that passed the law.

then they gerrymandered the hell out of the state (based on race) and got caught, was ordered to re-draw fair districts and have purposely drug it out in court for around a decade so they could use the unfair districts for as many elections as possible.

all while Christian Republicans, like the OP, continue to reward them.

California is what’s known as a “breadbasket” state, meaning it gives more in revenue than it takes in Federal assistance. You’re trashing a state that’s fundamentally responsible for the total wealth of the United States.

Jealousy is an ugly thing.

That is such bullsh**.

“The majority of states receive more in federal services than what they pay in federal taxes, but 11 states, including California and New Jersey, spend more than they receive.”

Your hatred of California is based on something, but whatever that thing is, it’s probably just jealousy.

The assumption that California pays more into the federal budget than it gets back means practically nothing. First, the claim is based upon extremely limited number of issues, like healthcare, for example, while totally ignoring other fiscal issues, like caring for the many needs of idle non-working illegal aliens. Second, the claim apparently no longer holds true, according to this:

"Notably, the high-tax California was no longer on the list of donor states, although just barely..."

Your article is older than mine. What's particularly notable about it though is that your state sits pretty high on the list of parasite states.

As I said, jealousy is an ugly thing.

Let's try to back up a little and take in the whole picture. Like the US Federal government, California has a massive debt and it is growing at an alarming rate. State debts and our federal debt is already no longer sustainable. If we just focus on one aspect of that debt, pension plans, we find that the total unfunded liability cost of government pension plans in all states combined is more than $6 trillion. California is not helping other states pay into their pension plans, it is not even keeping up with its own pension plan obligations.

Senator Tom Cotton has recently offered a bill, S. Res. 268, expressing the position that the federal government should not bail out any state who gets into deep trouble over it pensions obligations. Here is a quote:

"The five states with the greatest unfunded pension obligations -- Alaska, Connecticutt, California, Illinois, and Oregon -- have per-capita pension obligations ranging from $28,000 to nearly $47,000. That's two to five times as high as the five states' with the lowest pension debts."

During the recession in 2009 California made headlines by requesting a massive federal bailout due to its debt problems. Senator Cotton is apparently urging states by this bill not to look to the federal government for a bailout when the size of their growing pension payments inevitably runs them into serious fiscal troubles.

You're trying to change the rules to continue your hatred of California. I can see why you'd want to do that, considering that North Carolina is a parasite state. Before bashing the single most economically powerful and successful state in the union, first take a moment to see why your own state is such a disaster.

I commend California on its recovery. North Carolina did not have to seek a federal bailout in 2009 but I don't really think all Californians are to be disrespected just because their state did have to ask for federal help to bail the state out of the fiscal mess it had allowed itself to get into.

Your state requires Federal assistance every year. Fix your own disaster of a state.

We have a republican legislature but democrat judges struck down voting protections in North Carolina, unleashing the voter fraud which resulted in the voting fraud scandals making national news over the last few years. Consequently, we now have a democrat governor. One good thing Cooper did in the past which should be mentioned, is that he recognized the rape charges leveled against Duke Lacrosse players were false, so he dropped the charges, exposing the black racist lie and scam to be the reprehensible perversions of justice they were.

Democrats didn't put a gun to your Republicans' heads and make them harvest votes. Take responsibility for your own criminality.
