Why aren't 2020 Democrat candidates recusing themselves from the Senate trial?

Finally Someone Says It! Marsha Blackburn: Senators Running for President Must Recuse From Impeachment Trial

Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, took a moment to remind voters and the mainstream media both of this staggering conflict of interest in a statement issued Wednesday – the same day the articles of impeachment were transmitted to the Senate.

    From her statement:
“Tomorrow, one hundred United States Senators will be sworn in to serve in the impeachment trial of President Donald Trump. Four of those Senators must recuse themselves for their unparalleled political interest in seeing this President removed from office. These four Democrats, Senators Bennet, Klobuchar, Sanders, and Warren, cannot sit in judgment of the very President they seek to replace. To participate in this trial would be a failure of the oath they took to be an ‘impartial justice according to the Constitution and laws’. Their presidential ambitions prohibit their ability to view this trial through an objective lens.”
If Trump is being impeached with the ultimate goal of removing him from office and the 2020 election race, why are 2020 Democrats permitted to hold his destiny in their hands, when they can realistically benefit from his removal?

The motivation is the same, is it not? If Trump wanted Ukraine to publicly investigate his 2020 rival for the express purpose of getting him out of the 2020 race, to his benefit, then how is this different?

Each 2020 Dem candidate who sits in judgement simply cannot deny that IF they vote guilty and Trump is removed, they will all but guarantee that their party will win the 2020 election, and be in power, if not further, they as and individual just might become the most powerful person on earth.

They have the power to remove the biggest obstacle to Democrats winning in 2020.

They must recuse, right?. The conflict of interest is impeachable!

That has to be the dumbest bit of gaslighting I've heard. McConnell said the GOP would fully coordinate with Trump. Graham has no intention of being impartial. But it's the Democrats who should recuse. How convenient.

If there was any logic to your post and one followed it, the conclusion would be that the senate must recuse itself from any impeachment trial because they all have possible bias. That would be quite a stupid result, though you would no doubt like that as well.

The idea of impartiality of congress critters is an oxymoron. That is why the use of impeachment as just left wing smear tool in the toolbox is such a terrible idea. It is now just power politics using impeachment.

Are you pretending not to see the obvious conflict of interest here? If anyone has to recuse, those would be the first two to go.
Rightful liberty is unobstructed action according to our will within limits drawn around us by the equal rights of others. I do not add within the limits of the law, because law is often but the tyrant's will, and always so when it violates the rights of the individual.--Thomas Jefferson

Mr. Person said it well..."Dumbest" thing posted today. And that's saying a lot.

The fact that an impeachment trial in the Senate is, by nature, a partisan process does NOT mean that "impartial justice" cannot be rendered by every member of the Senate. The oath they take is NOT to pretend to be non-partisan, but to look at the FACTS and promise to render "IMPARTIAL JUSTICE". They don't have to be non-partisan to commit to following the FACTS where the facts lead them. That's the same as any other jury trial in our system of government.

If anyone should recuse it would be those Senators who have already declared their intent to not render impartial justice to the facts of the trial. That would be, at a minimum, McConnell and Graham, for starters.

But, of course, you've been gaslighted so much that you don't even recognize when you're doing it yourself.

    Typical.

You must not have heard, but they both signed a piece of paper saying the would be impartial. So there is really no way of knowing how they will vote

There are no FACTS. There is a lot of OPINION which would be tossed out of any trial in America. Yet, we're supposed to remove Trump based on it. Unreal.

Yes, that magical piece of paper that takes away all their partisan ambition. Miraculous, that.

Because they will look at the evidence in impartial manner and vote to impeach the SOB based on the clear facts and testimony that has already been presented, unless some new facts come to light that would exonerate him.
