Barr says that the president controls the DOJ and can determine who is investigated and who is not investigated. This seems to be part of Barr's belief in the Imperial President. Presidents in the past have mostly stayed out of determining who is and who is not investigated because of the political nature of doing so. Since Barr has come into the office, this has totally changed. Now we have Hillary Clinton being investigated again at the command of trump and we now have Durham out there investigating our FBI and CIA at Trump's demand because Trump wants to end the idea that the Russians interfered with our election. If the idea that the president can command such investigations becomes the norm, we will see president's controlling both who is investigated and who is not. Enemies get investigated and friends do not will become normal. I do not see this as a good thing, what do you think? Remember, the GOP will not always control the Whitw House.

I think Barr would be happy if we just got it over with and handed Trump a robe, crown, and golden scepter.

What's the big deal? All Presidents have had...and used...this control.

Do you believe that Congressional staff work for their member of Congress? Or do you believe in "Imperial members of Congress?"

Democrats know Barr said it wrong. He was supposed to say he is the President Trump's "wingman." That is the job of the DOJ according to the Democratic Party.

Who controls the DOJ?

It sounds like Trump could decide to act like Obama and Barr act like Holder!

We all know how glad nearly all Democrats on this forum that the abuser of Presidential power Obama is gone. Why isn't Obama in prison for the high crime of abuse of office plus staff members refusing to testify before Congress? He really should be referred to as "The criminal Obama," not President Obama. At least that is the obvious view of most Democrats.

What a national embarrassment. It turns out that nearly every president has been a criminal and Congress was derelict in not impeaching and removing them.

Nearly all members of Congress in history also should have been removed for abuse of office for not doing what the President wants them to do. Anyone in one branch of government that doesn't do what another branch of government wants is a criminal. Currently, the worst criminal is Pelosi for repeatedly refusing to do what President Trump wanted her to do.

There're a LOT of folks who call bull**** on that.
There's a whole line of thought that the DOJ (and other departments etc) should remain independent in their actions instead of political to keep us from becoming a banana republic.

But all that aside.

If Trump has this control, then it's on him to get the DOJ to lock up Kween Killary and the Bidens.

When will Trump stand up to these evil demoncrats?
When will Trump start defending the US of A from these domestic evil-doers?

If Trump can control the DOJ and start investigation, he'd better get on it posthatse.

Trump is in on the conspiracy is why.

Why else hasn't Trump locked her up?

The only possible reason is conspiracy.

It's not like the charges are bull****.

Today at her press conference, Pelosi described Barr as being implicit in this. I agree.

This is becoming very much like the prosecution of big name mafia crime families in New York like John Gotti and and the Gambino crime family. Incidentally, it was Rudy Giuliani and Robert Mueller working for the SDNY that put those guys in prison for life. But coming down to the very core of all of this, the Trump administration has been operating as nothing less than a very large criminal enterprise.

In the beginning, there were legitimate players that were in the administration before they were unceremoniously ushered out and this.... the tearing down of America began. General Matties, Rex Tillerson, General McMaster, David Shulkin, Gary Cohn, and yes James Comey. If nothing else, these men were not traitors to the United States. They were not plotters and schemers working solely for the benefit of Trump but for the country. These men were replaced with Trump's puppets. These original appointments made by Trump were people recommended to Trump and they were a front to convince the population of this country that he was a legitimate president. He's not. These men were quickly replaced one by one, usually without cause.

Steve Bannon's words from 2017 still ring in my year on the day he sat next to Reince Priebus on a stage during some convention, the Trump platform was "deconstruction of the administrative state".

LOL, I genuinely cannot tell if that's sarcasm or serious.

ANd projection at #6

Right wing trolls are so predictable with their idiotic comments

This is the larger problem with how republicans have viewed the presidency and more broadly how the American people have treated the presidency

And a false "both sides" at that.

Some day, Trump really will shoot a man in the street for no reason, and a trump supporter's first response will be, "Obama did it too."

Thanks so much old crusty politicians for turning my country into a dictatorship. My generation and generations after me will have to make gargantuan reforms to fix this mess.

The AG is a cabinet post, an such serves at the pleasure of the President. So either change the constitutional or accept it.

Oh, I believe he has. And that in itself may be another abuse of power. We'll see. But Hillary has been exonerated.
How was she exonerated? Comey concluded that she did violate the law. He just recommended that the DOJ not prosecute her. That isnt an exoneration.

Get over it, dude. She's been cleared by eighty dozen investigations, all headed by Republicans pathologically motivated to find her guilty.
