Was listening to State Media yesterday in the car, and they said that Trump and China were going to come to a first step in agreeing to mend trade issues. They actually said it was 'good news' for Trump. However, they causally mentioned that this was "Trump's" trade war, as if Trump started it and was the cause of it.

So China manipulates their currency for decades and Trump finally retaliates with tariffs. This is characterized as Trump's trade war, and Trump is to be blamed for escalating: China sets the rules, not America, according to the media. America should be ashamed. Using the same logic, Churchill was wrong to try and shoot down the Bf 109's and the He 111's as they attacked Britain - He "escalated" and it became "Churchill's war". Shouldn't he have known that Germany was supposed to call the shots? "Britain first"? How selfish of Churchill. Didn't the Germans deserve something? Leftist logic.

So with the negative (and wholly inaccurate) characterization of "Trump's trade war" - who is that designed to reach? It's designed to reach the unsuccessful - the people that make less than the median income, as without them democrats don't get elected.

Common sense tells you that when you deal from a position of strength, stand up for yourself, confident in yourself, you get ahead. The people that are successful know and understand this - the people that aren't do not. So the next time the leftists start saying "America is too proud", think about who votes for democrats: those that make below the median income. Are they proud of their success, their ability? Probably not.

Leftists want to project America on the world stage with the same psychology of a poor person - and all the lack of esteem and self confidence that comes with it. That's where their core support is.

What? You don't recall trump saying trade wars are easy to win when he started this one with china?

What a bunch of nonsense projection. Let me let you in on a little secret; China will outgrow us. It is exponentially outgrowing us. For a communist country, their economy is more capitalist than ours. They ignore patents. They steal IP. They are lawless. There is -very little- we can do for them but alot they can do for us, and every single US president has known this.

There is nothing that can put this genie back in the bottle. We are in the death throes of this nation being the top economic dog.

There really is only one way to stop this, and a trade war waged by a demagogue ain't gonna cut it.

In short, China is doing the same thing that Americans were doing 175 years ago!

Too bad for the Dems...Trump is helping those who make below median income...whether they like it or not.

Here is where you are totally wrong: "There is -very little- we can do for them..."

We supply them with the consumer market that they cannot survive without.

What? You don't recall trump saying trade wars are easy to win when he started this one with china?

I recall him saying that...and it turns out he's right.

Here is where you are totally wrong: "There is -very little- we can do for them..."

We supply them with the consumer market that they cannot survive without.

Nonsense. They can totally survive without it - it's us who cannot survive. China would simply revert to protectionism and has major trade partners in other parts of the world. If they starve us of cheap consumer goods, we will capitulate.

Yeah, thirty billion to the farmers worth of right.

More than that.

AGRICULTURE
China has committed to increase purchases of U.S. agriculture products by $32 billion over two years. That would average an annual total of about $40 billion, compared to a baseline of $24 billion in 2017 before the trade war started.

Trump has demanded that China buy $50 billion worth of American farm goods annually. U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer said China agreed to make its best efforts to increase its purchases by another $5 billion annually to get close $50 billion.

China has committed to reduce non-tariff barriers to agricultural products such as poultry, seafood and feed additives as well as approval of biotechnology products.

What's in the U.S.-China 'phase one' trade deal - Reuters

Nonsense. They can totally survive without it - it's us who cannot survive. China would simply revert to protectionism and has major trade partners in other parts of the world. If they starve us of cheap consumer goods, we will capitulate.

Okay. You go ahead and believe that China could make up a loss of more than 500billion from the US by selling to the rest of the world.

China doesn't believe that, but you are free to do so.

LOL!!

We'll still get our cheap consumer goods...we'll just get them from other countries.

Leftists have been taught to live their lives in shame. They have accepted this idea that they should be ashamed of what they are and what the country has accomplished and have been taught to abandon the concept of exceptionalism. When they see the trade imbalances created by decades of incompetent government officials they celebrate it as if it is somehow our just punishment.

Trump is not starting a trade war. that perception of what is happening is just...stupid. Trump is working to correct many decades of imbalances...imbalances allowed and perpetuated by both parties and their leadership. He isnt trying to create an unfair standard for the US, he is trying to end one that has been allowed for China. Its rather telling that so many leftists are so committed to their hatred that they cant see how and why this action is needed. It would be much more effective, quick, and sustainable if the commie rat socialists in congress and the inept GOP would actually stand together for the good of the country, rather than do what the GOP is good at, which is nothing, and what the rat party excels at, which is respond with their own hatred and Trump derangement.

There is only one reason China has come to the table expressing a willingness to address these imbalances...because it IS hurting them. But the leftists are more committed to their hatred of Trump than they are to seeing decades of unfair trade practices corrected.

It's worse than that.

That Trump haters will even deny reality when it goes against their Trump hatred.

I agree with everything you posted. This is why they have to dumb down America using MainStreamMedia (MSM). This is why they want the uneducated and impoverished to flood our country. This is why they like public schools who turn out imbeciles.

Your solution? I just love leftists, particularly those who try to flower things up by including "Libertarian" in front of it. All they do is claim things are wrong and bad and state no solutions for correcting that vague bad stuff. So, tell us just what is it that America has to do to stop China from outdoing America.

I will tell you and ity aint gonna happen with the current society we are creating of entitlement minded powder puffs in our public schools.

In short, China is doing the same thing that Americans were doing 175 years ago!

Big difference is that China isn't run like America where the children are babied and mollified and told they can have anything they want.

Too bad for the Dems...Trump is helping those who make below median income...whether they like it or not.

This is true and why they are freaking out. If he brings blacks and Hispanics into the fold, the Dems are screwed big time. And, he is doing just that.

China is no longer a currency manipulator, I would like to know why? Why don't you? This is what Trump said in 2015. So what did we get from this deal?

How about, instead of swallowing your propaganda of choice, you go and listen to real economists, not market fundamentalists like Mises?

Who has the production capacity China has?

My case is rested. Answer? No one. So no. Our goods won't be cheap. They will cost more.

In short, China is doing the same thing that Americans were doing 175 years ago!

It's funny - there's a quote from US Grant talking about trade, where he explains what England is doing different than the US, but saying that in a century when the US is the large economy it'll do the same thing. He was right.

How about, instead of swallowing your propaganda of choice, you go and listen to real economists, not market fundamentalists like Mises?

Your solution? It is very easy to carp from the bleachers. It is very difficult to come up with workable solutions.
