Virginia Governor Declares State Of Emergency Ahead Of Gun Rights Rally : NPR
Fearing potential violence, Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam is declaring a state of emergency and is banning firearms and other weapons on the Capitol grounds in Richmond ahead of a gun rights demonstration planned for next week.

"We have received credible intelligence from our law enforcement agencies that there are groups with malicious plans for the rally that is planned for Monday," Northam said during a press conference Wednesday afternoon.

Gun rights supporters are preparing to converge on Richmond for a lobbying day and a rally Monday morning. They're opposed to efforts by Virginia Democrats — who've just*taken over control*of the Virginia legislature following the November 2019 elections — to pass a slate of*gun control bills*backed by Northam.

Whatever happens, it's important to remember that the Virginia Democrats are the ones who instigated the whole thing. When you try to disarm people who aren't doing anything wrong, then you're the criminal.

I don't have a problem with banning guns and all other non-lethal weapons (but allowing non-lethal) on government property or at public rallies and protests. Mob mentality in ANY large group of any kind can lead to irrational mob violence, when then can push other psychotic, sociopathic or otherwise mentally disturbed person over the edge.

Both sides like to blame the other side when one of their side is the killer, but it happens from all sides in mob mentality and in the non-stop panic mode of the MSM, the politics and on the Internet now. Always pushing hate and fear, doomsday horrors. This triggers violently mentally disturbed people.

Get rid of the anti-gun laws and there wouldn't be a rally.
 
In other news tomatoes banned at tomato festival. Don't laugh if the government decides you shouldn't have tomatoes they'll be the only ones with guns to enforce it.

Gov. Coonman Northam strikes agian throwing gas on an already volatile situation. He will not be happy until violance erupts.

I think that if the government wasn't antagonizing gun owners by passing a bunch of needles laws there would be no volatile situation to begin with. What makes sense it focusing efforts on those who break the laws instead of focusing on making it harder for people who don't to exercise a right.

The government is following the will of the people who elected them into office. If the majority of your fellow Americans believe in gun control to bad. Elections have consequences.

And the protesters are airing the grievances unfortunately Gov Coonman is trying to restrict them from doing so. The will of the people to have there cities be declared 2nd Amendment Sanctuary localities is running counter to what the Democrats purpose. There are some gun control measures I support and others I will protest agianst

No one is stopping them from protesting, they're just being prevented from bringing deadly weapons to what you describe as a volatile situation. That seems pretty prudent. If you guys can't be counted on to act like responsible adults then we'll take your toys away.

I seriously doubt there is any threat, Gov Coonman is just beating a fear drum and tryig to paint protesters in a bad light. They would be responsible adults like they always are.

The real idiots are the ones who think they can just overrule the constitution because they get their feewings hurt when someone talks about a gun. If you are anti gun, this isn't the country for you.

Don't infringe on our rights. Problem solved. If the government can't be counted on to behave like adults, they'll lose their authority to govern.
