It's Official

It is a fact. As much of a fact as the one you brought up about President Trump.
Only because Johnson lost his party’s nomination. America isn’t going to be as fortunate with Trump.

Only TWO presidents were impeached. Richard Nixon was smart enough to realize impeachment was inevitable and quit.
Johnson, Clinton, and Trump = 3 impeached presidents

Johnson, Clinton, and Trump = 3 impeached presidents

I have seen posts stating until Nancy Pelosi gives Mitch McConnell the Articles of Impeachment document, it is not official. Is that true or false?

Only because Johnson lost his party’s nomination. America isn’t going to be as fortunate with Trump.

Technically Johnson was part of the renamed Republican Party, the National Union Party which was named that given that the Civil War was still ongoing to attract voters who would never consider voting for the Republicans.

National Union Party (United States) - Wikipedia

In a real sense, Andrew Johnson in 1868 did not have a party anymore and the GOP never seriously considered nominating him.

Obama released 1000's of documents requested in the many investigations during his tenure. He never stopped his associates from testifying either. Trump's behavior is unprecedented.
In other words, you have no idea what you're talking about. :lamo

Trump's official legacy will now, and forever, include 'Impeached.' He has no 'Executive Privilege' to change this historical fact. The House has met it's Constitutional duty....Thoughts ?

Although valid, it's a total waste of time. The GOP senate has no intention on conducting a fair trial. They aren't even trying to hide it. It will be stonewalled and railroaded to swift and timely death.

Evidence, witnesses, reports be damned.

I do hope America is paying attention to this.

What happens if Trump is re-elected?

Doesn’t reflect negatively on Trump. That will be our official legacy. Our grandchildren will ask what we were thinking.

Sorry, Condor, only 3 presidents have been impeached in our country’s entire history, and Trump is the only one impeached in his first (only, hopefully) term. That’s big, and history will reflect it’s significance.

An aside, do you think Trump’s approval rating will go up as a result of the impeachment process, like happened with Clinton? Do you think Trump might even crack the 50% nationwide approval ceiling that he has yet to accomplish, unlike every single one of his predecessors repeatedly did?

Presenting articles of impeachment,
with only one party voting for them,
refusing to allow any opposing witnesses in the hearings,
refusing to allow Republicans their minority day,
secretly subpoenaing political opponents phone calls to provide them to the media
without a single witness who can testify to the articles in the Senate,
then withholding them for a month while unsuccessfully trying to renegotiate the rules of evidence and testimony
only to get an acquittal,

isn't a reflection on anyone but the idiots who did it.

Bill Clinton did commit a crime and he was impeached for that crime, in real time. No decades needed to establish his crime. And 2 decades later, it's all but forgotten.

Yes, all but forgotten except by political buffs like me. Yes, Bill did commit a crime, but did that crime warrant impeachment and removal? Perhaps a censure would have been the better tool. Most historians have come to the conclusion impeachment was overkill. Partisan overkill. 20-30 years from now, historians may look back on Trump's impeachment in the same light or not.

However historians look back at Trump's impeachment, they will place it in an era of divisiveness, polarization and ultra high partisanship like this country has never seen before. That is outside of the years leading up to the civil war. It is my guess that it is this political era of polarization, partisanship and the great divide that will be highlighted more in the history books of 20-30 years from now than Trump's impeachment. Just a SWAG.

I heard witnesses say they had direct knowledge.

No you didn't.

I'll just give you a 2 minute clip of Sondland who is their star witness if you dare to watch it.
Its the same thing every other witness testified to/

Well you're certainly upset about Trump's popular vote loss, seeing as nobody here was even thinking about it until you brought it up.

You didn't get it when I posed it and you won't get it now. Just move on man

Had Johnson toed the line, he could have been nominated. His lousy (Trumpish) temperament and attempted usurping of Congresses power doomed any prospect.

You didn't get it when I posed it and you won't get it now.

No, we get it man. In Condor060's head, every channel on the tv is "Trump lost the popular vote."

It's all partisan, political :bs

Yeah, except that the real partisans are the Republicans that have already said they will exonerate him no matter what proof is presented. The Democrats actually had a reason to impeach (clear abuse of power and clear obstruction of Congress). The Republicans don't even want evidence presented or witnesses testifying.

I can just see you saying that the partisanship is on the side of the pedophile that just ravaged one of your underage children but is rich and popular with the Jury.

Great job Trix. Don't you ever dare to complain in the future about someone doing something to your family and getting away with it because that person is popular or supported by a large group of people.

The law be damned. Trump is above the law!

No you didn't.

Sondland was ONE witness. You are conveniently ignoring everyone who DID have first-hand information just to make a false statement in favor of your agenda.

Trump's official legacy will now, and forever, include 'Impeached.' He has no 'Executive Privilege' to change this historical fact. The House has met it's Constitutional duty....Thoughts ?

But, but, it doesn't count as the trial is a sham!

And as soon as Trump is acquitted, it will be the first time worthless articles were presented without a single witness and only partisan votes.

It will be filed with all the other failed attempts from the day he took office.

Gee I wonder why those witnesses weren't allowed to testify?

It is a rather tainted victory for democrats who declared from the beginning they intended to impeach Trump The fact that they finally did impeach Trump by suspending rules of law and due process is at best a hollow victory.

Suspending rules of law and due process?

I guess there really are other universes coexisting. Maybe you should go back to yours?
