Your opinion

That would be too normal. These aren't normal times. Myself, I feel like I'm watching a drama. Bad acting but the plot twists are unreal.

I think there will be witnesses, but it's anyone's guess how the [Senate Rs-Senate Ds-Nancy and Crew-Donald-Donald KAs-minions-the rest of us] will go about it.

So far, 'the rest of us' faction of the Impeachment Behemoth totals 71%. And we want witnesses. Sucks to be a minion, which is what an ever increasing number of GOP Senators are saying.

In English please?

In English please?

Republicans had no reason to vote yes. Nothing to gain. They could only lose support by voting yes. So, they did nothing. Didn't need to. Didn't. That's all there is to it.

Or a few Republicans find a spine
I'm glad three Democrats did. One even resigned the party.

Public opinion translates into votes and reputation. If 71% want witnesses, that means 71% don't want a sham trial. McConnell knows this. He's not going to move to dismiss.
You mean like the sham investigation in the House?

Motion to dismiss for failure to state a case is part of every legal proceeding, in every country of which I am aware. Even if you concede the Democrats all of the facts, there is no offense alleged.

I disagree. The House impeachment trial was partisan but not because Trump was being investigated, it was as partisan as possible because of the fact that Trump blocked all the witnesses he could and the administration defied Congressional subpoenas by not providing documents. Trump instructed all witnesses to break the law by defying legal Congressional subpoenas. Some like Fiona Hill and William Taylor were instructed to defy Congress, but they are patriots and honored their subpoenas. Their testimonies were incredibly damaging to Trump. Both of them had to resign their positions and that's a huge loss for US foreign relations. Both were seasoned, experienced, dedicated and respected US foreign service employees.

Once Trump proclaimed that he was absolutely not going to cooperate with Congress in any way, it was he that set the stage for an entirely partisan impeachment investigation. Congress has the Constitutional obligation of oversight of the Executive branch and Trump defied the Constitution with his refusal even to allow others to fulfill their obligations to this country.

What a bunch of blathering partisan nonsense. Democrats have said they wanted to impeach Trump since before he even took office. When the new House came in after the 2018 midterms there were cries to impeach the "mother ****er". Tell me again how it hasn't been partisan.

No. What happened is that the whistle blower didn't have first hand knowledge and they back dated the form. The IG wanted to get Trump and colluded with Schiff, Vidman and the alleged whistle blower....ALL of them Trump haters.

Good. I hate Trump too. WTF does that have to do with anything?

You said it was a setup from the beginning. Are you backpeddling on that claim?

Who cares what the whistleblower did with whom? This isn't about the whistleblower. It's about a phone call. Remember?

It's not a legal proceeding. It's a political exercise. 71%

What a bunch of nonsense. The House on a 99% partisan basis (minus a few Democrats) voted to impeach Trump and now the Senate on a 99% partisan basis (still minus a few Democrats) will vote not to remove Trump from office. The founders set a high bar of 2/3's for a reason. Whatever the president had done would have to turn off even their own party so much that they would vote to remove the president from office. The founders also set a fairly short term limit on the presidency of 4 years so that voters could remove a president from office in the event that a 2/3's vote in a Senate impeachment trial wasn't attained.

Why do you Trumpers keep repeating this nonsense? Who gives a **** what the Democrats were trying to do? This is about Trump and his actions. Whether the Democrats wanted to burn him at the stake is completely irrelevant to what Trump did. This nonsense doesn't work anymore. Nobody says it but internet deflection gurus.

No, what they said is that he should have been impeached long ago because of the chaos and destruction he was committing against this 275 years of democracy. But there just wasn't enough to impeach him for being a blowhard, a liar, a man that accepts foreign interference in our government, alienated our allies and befriended enemies of democracy. What he did that was finally impeachable was extort a foreign government to try to help him win re-election

It has a judge, prosecutor and defense, rules of order, rules of evidence. It's a legal proceeding.

What happened in the House was a political exercise.

Sorry. If you read it slowly it makes sense.

English: Anything can happen. Each day reveals more. All I know is the vast majority of people do not want a sham Senate trial.

Better?

It's funny how the left can have a sham impeachment but then demand a fair Senate trial, which shouldn't even be happening due to the sham impeachment. However, since that's the way it came down, I'm perfectly fine with dittoing the Clinton impeachment where partisan Democratic Senators voted not to remove Clinton from office. The shoe is on the other foot now.

Not going to take the Senate vote well, are you?

You are living in lala land if you think Republicans wanted Trump impeached.

Will witnesses be called in the senate trial of president trump?

I don't know but one thing I do know is that if no witnesses are called then we, as a democratic Republic, have ceased to be one and we will now be a lawless autocratic society like Russia is.

If our long established laws and ways of determining guilt or innocence are no longer respected, then we have become what Trump wants us to become, a Russian puppet with Trump being the de facto representative of Putin.

Heil to the King...........Putin.

There still isn't.

It has a guy in a robe, a bunch of statues, curtains. It's a Broadway play!

Legal proceedings are codified. This is impeachment. Not codified. Straight from the Constitution. Held not by prosecutors, defense lawyers and a jury of peers, but by politically motivated elected officials.

See the difference?

LOL. It is actually music to my ears to hear the left say that Trump and the Republicans are committing chaos and destruction to our democracy. That means that conservative values are Trumping liberal values. Hey, did you see the courts sided with Trump yet again regarding separation of illegal families at the borders? Judge rules in favor of Trump administration in family separation case

And let's not forget how many lifetime judges are being appointed by Trump. More chaos and destruction to come while liberal values get buried deeper and deeper.

You are living in lala land if you think Republicans wanted Trump impeached.

If they thought they could get reelected they'd remove him in a minute.

"President Trump would never do that. He is of upstanding character." Said nobody.

Let's not forget the topic. Impeachment. Witnesses.

How 'bout we forget Clinton and have Trump testify? Wait a minute...

No but hey, did you see how the courts said that Don McGahn must testify? Did you see how the courts shut down the Trump Foundation and made them pay 2 million dollars in retribution to charity? Did you see how two courts say that Trump must turn over his tax returns for the past five years? Did you read where a federal judge struck down the Donald Trump administration’s plan to require some people to work for their Medicaid benefits? Did you see that another judge halted Trump’s plan to open Arctic waters to drilling?

Federal judges have ruled against the Trump administration at least 63 times over the past two years, but oh! They must be Obama appointees, right?
