If you saw someone in public wearing a MAGA hat, would you say or do anything to that person?

Of course not.

Who cares?

Did you feel compelled to say or do anything when you saw Obama swag?

Dumb deflection. Obama wasn't pushing for hate and violence against minorities like Trump is and what his MAGA hat stands for, so the question is mute.

You right wingers have some seriously warped mentality, where liberals are evil for wanting freedom and rights for everybody, while conservatives discrimnating and hating on gays, people of color, other religions, etc is good

If he took the time to listen to her words, he would know that Hillary wasn't referring to racists.

He's the one that went there.

Just saying.
...........
Throughout her presidential campaign, Hillary Clinton expressed her concerns regarding Donald Trump and his supporters. The New York Times and CNN cited Clinton's earlier articulation of similar ideas to the phrase in her August 25, 2016 campaign speech at a rally in Reno, Nevada. In that speech, Clinton had criticized Trump's campaign for using "racist lies" and allowing the alt-right to gain prominence, claiming that Trump was "taking hate groups mainstream and helping a radical fringe take over the Republican Party". Clinton also criticized Trump for choosing Steve Bannon as his chief executive officer, especially given Bannon's role as the executive chair of the far-right news website Breitbart News.

My bad. I thought you fessed up to looking down.

There you go thinking again.

Trump and the indicted Lev Parnas ... Giuliani's right-hand man.

I don't think he is saying that you're racist. He's talking about the word "deplorable".

The guy is dumb enough to put a deplorable sticker on a work vehicle, enough said......

So those commenting on the T-shirts - I assume were not alive or too young to remember the slogan "Better Red than Dead" that many used who supported communism in the 60's and earlier. Which spawned the phrase "Better Dead than Red" by the anti-communist of the era. They were just slogans to get a reaction, like the T-shirts and they died out with the passage of time, as will the T's. These shirts are just a play on those past slogans.

:lamo....as one of those minorities that the Trumpsters so love to hate and castigate...I agree with every word of your remarks, Sampson.

You might want to go back and re-read my remarks for context.

I'm a lot of things, but "right winger" isn't among them. Definitely not the most liberal guy in America, but far, far from anyone's idea of "right winger".

MAGA does not stand for violence minorities, so your point is moot. What is not moot is that Trump's message appeals to blacks.

Only in the FoxNews/conservative/fakenews bubble! Everywhere else, he's the least popular republican president among African-American voters....in history.

Lemme guess....you don't know many black people, right?

Trump will get no more than 7-8% of the African-American vote...at best. In other words, his ceiling is lower than the FLOOR of any GOP'er since the pre-civil rights era (excluding, of course, anyone who ran against Barack Obama). I don't think Trump can do worse than the 4% @ss-wooping McCain took from African-American voters in 2008, though.

But he won't break double digits with black voters. He knows this too. That's why gopers have put so much effort and money into their voter suppression schemes around the country.

The goal for the Gop'ers in 2020 is suppression of the non-white vote, not courting it.

Yeah i was at a christmas day parade and i felt bad for this lady working for the DNC. she was nice but as soon as she said democrat people were just getting mean.

And that IS a direct reflection on your party and your right wing ideology.
I seldom see MAGA hat people but when I do, I don't say anything, EVER.

That's because unlike Trumpers, I actually DO believe in people having the rigth to at least basic dignity, even if I think their political affiliation is nutso.
All of this, this entire thread, is a desperate attempt to demonize the Left.
And as usual, it's straight PROJECTION, straight Roy Cohn/Joseph Goebbels style projection and big lie pandering.

I won't wear the MAGA hat just anywhere, and so far, I haven't put any Trump stickers on my car. That's because there are some who would very likely key the car or do some other stupid thing.
It's a sad state of affairs for sure.
I wouldn't even consider keying a car Bernie/ Coexist/rainbow flag stickers.:)

I wouldn't do a thing. The hat itself does not particularly offend me. I leave him alone. He leaves me alone. Now if he starts talking politics.... my rebuttal time will be deeply cherished.

It's the year 2020, and Hillary isn't running for President.
I sorta kinda figured you already knew that.
So where does dislike for Hillz figure into all of this in 2020?

Just say that you can't stand anything that isn't Trump RED.

Please try to respond the the entire conversation instead of snippets.

I was asked.......

So what part of the basket are you self identifying as then?

Got it?

It was during the Hillary campaign.

Do anything? No.

Automatically downgrade my estimation of the wearer's intelligence? Absolutely.

I respect everyone's right to their opinion too much to think of them negatively. That is something too many can't wrap their heads around, and I think it is time to live and let live and come back to seeing each other as human beings.
Now one can get into trouble for wearing political apparel, but I think that all depends on where you are and how confrontational you want to be.

Straight up projection! You guys run around yelling "SNOWFLAKES, libtard SNOWFLAKES!!!" but the amount of butt-hurt snowflakey whining from the Right is so massive it's threatening to throw the entire planet out of its orbit.

Hillary made a comment about a "basket of deplorables" and suddenly the entire Trump Nation went full retard over it.
Did she say RetiredUSN is deplorable?
No, she didn't.
She made a reference to some of the scummier tactics of the Right, in direct reference, by the way, to the behavior of Donald Trump.
And you guys just went full retard, that's it in a nutshell.

She's saying that the half of Trump supporters are racist. Of course she's wrong about the half part. It's less but regardless that's what deplorable means.

Not fair.

She's saying "to grossly generalize" half of Trump supporters (not Republicans) are bigots of some sort. Could be "racist or sexist or homophobe or Islamophobe or other type of bigot" or a combo. Now, if half is a gross generalization, then we could suppose twenty five percent is not.

She said one quarter of Trump supporters are a bigot (she clearly defines deplorable as a bigot) of some kind. Maybe less. "To grossly generalize".

In response to the question; it depends. If we're standing together in a supermarket check-out line, I might strike up the same conversation I would with someone not wearing a MAGA hat. I distinguish between people and political positions. Each of us is infinitely more than just a rooter for this or that political party. In other words, the hat would have no effect on what I would or would not do or say.

She said ten percent (generalize, grossly) of Trump supporters are a bigot of some sort (the basket of deplorables of which she gave examples).

Is that you? Or are you the other basket she talks about.

I did run into an old guy at the VA Hospital here in Long Beach who was proudly sporting his MAGA hat.
But we had been engaged in a discussion about music, not politics.
But toward the end, he made a veiled reference to the fact that he was putting himself in a tough spot, what with all the scary leftists running around and him wearing his hat.

I looked directly into his eyes and told him,

"I am one of those leftists although I generally just think of myself as an ordinary Democrat, and I have not once mentioned your hat.
We are not monsters....you like Donald Trump and I don't. This is America, we're supposed to differ on stuff sometimes, and we have the right to do that."

"Well alright then."

That's all he said, and with a tip of his hat, off he went.

I live in the Bay Area with several million, and am proud to say I have never once seen pro-trump items. If I saw a person with a MAGA hat, I'd be disgusted by it, but respect their right and wouldn't 'do anything' unless it was to talk to them civilly about how I think they're wrong. Hell, *I* have a MAGA hat - but it's in Russian.
