Erm, I was talking about happiness and that's something completely different, so I'm not sure why you're posting it in a reply to me. Ah, you don't understand the difference between the terms. Perhaps try using a dictionary?

Anyways, that is interesting, but I'll take Liberal and happier each and every day. :)

America is down quite a ways towards miserable. I wonder if that, and the "more meaningful," are part of religiosity and racism? Keeping brown skinned people in their place could certainly give some people's lives meaning. Same with trying to convince people that storybook characters like Santa Claus, Harry Potter, and Yahweh, are real.

Well sure, when you're out at the fascist end of the political spectrum, everything this side of Breitbart and Stormfront looks like a "leftist rag".

If you can live in "sub-society" with religious people, you just form some rules for your own bubble-society and use religious definitions and habits. In controlled environment like that there's lot of synergy, and can be partly explain this "meaningfulness" - it lasts as long as you stay with people like you (=as you're most likely as full of religion as other people around).

Few words about Finland & Happiness:

There's lot of ways to evaluate happiness and funny thing is that if you walk here in Finland - you will find out pretty fast how whole society is so silent, you can't see much any kind of expressions (here isn't small talk at all compared to US). People are calm, silent, just going from A to B, doing own things. If you expect to see people jumping around in joy here, it's going to be huge disappointment. Real source of happiness here is general equality, how this society works. When you have real friends here you find out new and nice things (on streets, as we just aren't that interested in random interactions with random people - some people may think that Finland is full of misanthropists, like "f*** off and die" -type rudeness).

The only fascist i see are leftist. They simply hate people having a difference of opinion and free speech.

My job sent me off to tech school many times. There were people there from all over the world and all over the country. All were easy to get along with except those from New Jersey and New York City. They were always abrasive know it alls.

Nah, targeting Fox is easy for them. Though they aren't usually intelligent enough to notice that a good portion of Fox's programming is one opinion piece after the other, while their actual reporting is pretty spot on.
