Yep. I have a lot of respect for many Conservative principles. But Conservatism does indeed often have a fear component, which Republican politicos (and Trump) exploit among their voter base. There have been books written and studies undertaken concerning the psychological differences between Liberals & Conservatives. There are real differences.

I tend to believe we need a blending of both traits in our persons and in society. But I must admit, while I can relate well to personal Conservative principles - I do tend to enjoy the social company of Liberals more. Liberals seem to be more open-minded, idealistic, free-living, and fun loving - if you you only can keep them grounded in reality!

I might consider doing a thread on the personality differences between Liberals & Conservatives. It would be great if it could remain civil & productive. I think it could be enlightening!

The woman came within a gnat's hair of being elected president. She would have been as divisive for the country as Trump, and her policies far worse for the country.

Nationalists typically hate and act against (1) foreigners, and paradoxically, (2) citizens of their own nation who are not just like them. This is despite the fact that they claim they really just want to put their country first. It's their demographic in their country that they want to put first.

White nationalists care less about nationalism. They're more about simply hating all non-white people and, because every hate group has to do it, Jews whether they are white Americans or black Ethiopians or any other ethnicity/nationality. As between a black American and a black Ethiopian, the blackness accounts the vast majority of their hatred. The little extra bit of hatred aimed at the second's Eithiopian nationality is just icing for them.



Unsurprisingly, nationalism has walked any number of nations into the worst of wars.

The bolded is not "paradoxical" at all! It is a defining feature of nationalism. Despite the term's etymology, nationalism in practice is about dominating & expelling one's fellow citizens!

Ex:

"Go back to where you came from!"

Let's not kid ourselves here. Nationalism has been a scourge upon humanity throughout the ages, and atrocities in the name of it abound.

And I'll reiterate:

It is the absolute antithesis of our "United" States.

The partisanship of the votes and the kangaroo court process. The Dems know that their reign is over once the Senate gets it which is why he has not yet been impeached. They are chicken now that they know they don't hold the gavel or cards.

When Hillary became first lady she didn't fit the mold that some had envisioned for a first lady...she had a favorability rating of 38%.

By the end of her husbands presidency she had a favorability rating of 67%.

When she became a Senator, she worked across the aisle and earned the respect of her peers including the GOP. By the time she left her term as senator and announced her candidacy for president she had a favorability rating of 58%.

When she was Secretary of State she supported Obama's policies. By the time she left her position in 2012 she had a favorability rating of 66% and was more popular than Obama or Biden.

Then in 2013, when she was contemplating another run for president, the GOP got scared and decided to bring her ratings so their low rate candidates could compete. They conducted a smear campaign of false accusations and witchhunt investigations that went on four years and counting. By the time she announced her candidacy in 2015 her favorability ratings had dropped to 41%.

During the 2016 election, Putin got involved because he didn't want to her to win because he held a grudge against her and husband going back to the early 90s. He ordered his internet trolls to conduct a smear campaign against her using polling data that he got from Manafort. By the end of the campaign, her favorability had dropped to 38%.

After the election, the Russian and GOP smear campaigns against her didn't stop and so today her favorability rating is at an all time low of 36%.




Republicans hate Hillary because they were afraid she could win the presidency and now they just hate her for the sake of hating and need a scapegoat to distract from the horrid, immoral president they got elected.

The sad truth is she would've made a great president and far superior to the one we have now.

It's not quite the right word, but note the name of the poster I was responding to (paradoxical) and his apparent claim (that "white nationalism" involves hatred but "nationalism" doesn't). Though my point and use of that specific term wasn't just a subtle dig. If we go with the dictionary or book definition of nationalism, we get:

1: loyalty and devotion to a nation especially : a sense of national consciousness (see consciousness sense 1c) exalting one nation above all others and placing primary emphasis on promotion of its culture and interests as opposed to those of other nations or supranational groups.

By the book definition, it's supposed to be my nation first. Race, ethnicity, religion, or any other similar categorization isn't built into the term. But in reality, self-identified nationalists conflate nation with race/religion/etc., and so yes, in practice hatred of the other whether or not they are in one's own nation is a defining feature. But yes, that's not a paradox. It's just an underhanded if transparent way for white nationalists to pretend to only be concerned with putting their country first.
