You. Yeah, you! Are you in?

Fostered by some good will presented to me by a very magnanimous poster (I'll leave it for her to come forward if she so chooses), I'm issuing a 10 day "good will" Christmas Challenge! I'm challenging myself (and you!) to attack the board and our fellow posters with a renewed spirit of mutual respect & courtesy, appropriate for these Holiday times.

I often claim that I believe we are all brethren, we are all God's children. I'll leave it up to you as to whether to take that literally, or metaphorically? But I firmly believe we are all deserved of dignity & respect. Now is our chance to try to prove it! To try to treat each other with some additional dignity and respect.

To join in, you don't have to be Catholic, Christian, or anything at all besides a fellow DP'er. You only need the desire to want to try to bring a little good to the forum this Holiday season, and to post your intentions in this thread. Obviously, you don't need to be successful. You simply need the desire. And yes, it is a tall challenge!

So, can you give it 10 days? A week? A day? Only 'till you get to the next post? Hey, anything helps - right?

So without further ado,

"I'm in!"

I'm in, but mostly by staying out since I have been working a lot lately. ;)

^^

Great. 10 days is a long time, but since the benevolent act was done today calling attention to the 10 days before Christmas, I ran with it.

Good luck, guys!

I suppose "being in while being out" might be an effective strategy, there!

The first rule is "do no harm", right? :2razz:

I'm in.

Also trying to give up carbs (except beer) for a month.

Sure. Why not? I'll just keep doing what I've always been doing. No problem.

Yeah, not sure that's entirely the spirit of your challenge (though obviously you'd know better than me), but I guess it's better than nothing.

Gave up wheat products (I assume that's what you meant) and alcohol. I ain't gonna get fat this December. Seriously. I mean it this time, dammit.

Great! It's all individual based, obviously. Who are we to judge others, right? I think just having the desire to do a little good, is a great thing to see! Everything starts with an idea ...

Great.

Re: Hog roasting -

If you think it will foster a better spirit of respect & camaraderie around here, go for it!

**** no. I hate people.

Wow. I'm stunned! Thank you so much, Acadia. That might be the highest compliment I've received on DP. I'm blown away by your statement, because I'm starting this thread in part because I see myself slipping away a bit as of late.

Despite our often debated differences, and the passion and (sometimes) anger we bring when seeing the divisions in our country, I've always sensed the quoted above in you.

Well ... yeah ... the only thing required is the desire to step one's game up a notch. Even if just for one post. And it's not for me to judge!

Likewise, my friend.

Not quite sure what the challenge is however if it's not stop name calling and derision. Challenge accepted.
