Linda Ronstadt Trashes President Trump at Kennedy Center Gala Honoring Her. 100% Classless!

I remember when Linda Ronstadt burst onto the scene in 1975 with her covered megahits. I was a burgeoning curious adolescent, and I thought she was just gorgeous. I didn't care she was cavorting with Governor Moonbeam. Politics didn't matter. As time went on she started getting a bit chunky, but I still liked her music. One of the few concerts I ever attended was when she came to my city in 1990. After I became aware of politics thanks to Rush Limbaugh in the early 1990s, I started noticing Ronstadt's decidedly unattractive political statements, including her trashing of Howard Stern's sidekick Robin Quivers on Leno in 1995.

But i could live with it. I guess my motto towards her was "Just shut up and sing". Then in 2004, she was booed off the stage and escorted from the Aladdin in Vegas for insulting the audience by pushing Michael Moore's whackjob movie, Fahrenheit 911.

I'm not really all that worked up. But I do like to point stuff out. Ronstadt is so classless for using this nonpartisan occasion to trash the president. She is so ungrateful to the country that helped her get rich.

He's done more good for this country than any president in a long time. He's taken on things that others from both parties have only talked about. Whether on not you agree with him, he has been a man of great courage.

I for one put very little stock in what some celebrity says regarding politics. She can express her opinion. That is all it is.

Don't like Trump in the way he presents himself. Never have. I do agree on some of his polices.

The comments Ronstadt made at the Aladdin to do with Michael Moore’s “Fahrenheit 9/11”, about that whackjob Iraq war, were the same she’d been making on that tour concerning the film w/o incident. She also received applause, not just boos as you made it sound.

The audience had to take it in for a few seconds, but ended-up cheering.

Ronstadt doesn’t look like any “hippo” in the photo of her in your Pompeo link. She was heavier for a while, but lost weight in 2016.

The thing that gets me is Trump's economy is great for liberals, too. And great for blacks, hispanics, poor people. It's not just the conservatives who elected him. So would people vote against their self-interest and support these Marxist WHACKJOBS who are very vocal about their goals to trash they economy? It just doesn't make sense.

There is a time and a place for everything. This wasn't that. I don't care who the President is, this was classless and very disappointing. Kennedy Center honors should be more than an opportunity for cheap political grandstanding, in my opinion.

I blame Marlon Brando. :mrgreen:

I know about the Stoney Poneys. But she wasn't a household name until 1975.

I linked the account of the Aladdin incident from the Las Vegas Sun. You can dispute the facts with them if you like.

And yes, the recording industry folks who attended the Kennedy Center gala and cheered were no doubt classless leftwingers like Ronstadt.

And yes, she has been so big in the recent past, she needed a walker.

I always chuckle when youngsters read about something from decades and tell me how it was. I was there, I was very aware as a child, and I have been blessed with a great memory.
