Surprise New Leader In Recent Iowa Poll

Polls are useless.

Remember?

I mean, we'll see how all this turns out at election time. I still maintain that this is the Democrats election to lose.

I'm shocked that Trump has small leads in a rural state made up of 91% white people that he won by 10% 3 years ago.

I mean, it is a swing state. Iowa went to Gore and Obama twice. I don't think that we should just immediately poo poo Iowa polls.

Agreed. A majority of the country has hated trump since he stepped into office, and all he does is act like the worst human ever. If Democrats can’t figure out how to capitalize on that then I just don’t know what to say.

I agree. I don't dismiss Democrat incompetence, however. It's quite possible they blow it and then we're really in for it. Trump in Term 2 is going to make Trump in Term 1 look like....a stable genius.

Iowa is a swing state that has voted Democratic many times recently, including for Obama twice. Just how many states can you guys write off or call their citizens deplorables and expect to win?

What bigotry? Is it an insult to call people "white" or something?

I didn't think it was actually almost 91% white, then I looked up the demographics.

Iowa racial composition of population[74]
Race Population (2017 est.) Percentage Total population 3,118,102 100%
White 2,824,197 90.6%
Black or African American 106,762 3.4%
American Indian and Alaska Native 10,791 0.3%
Asian 71,178 2.3%
Native Hawaiian and Other Pacific Islander 2,913 0.1%
Some other race 39,527 1.3%
Two or more races 62,734 2.0%

It really is. And Trump did win it by 10% last time, so we shouldn't be too shocked if Iowa is trending Trump now.

However, I still think dismissing Iowa outright is short sighted. Iowa is a swing state and does vote Democrat from time to time (or Obama twice, lol).

Which has been the case for three years now and there is a very real possibility that you "just don’t know what to say" for another five years.

There's going to be a new class of deplorables in 2020, and I predict they won't be a charitable when on the receiving end.

What would you say if he lost?

Good thing Trump bought them off with his bailouts. ;)

LOL. You mean like the left try getting the black vote with all kinds of hand outs, now up to and including paying reparations to slave descendants?

Luckily that population is declining as a % every year.

The GOP Is Dying Off. Literally. - POLITICO Magazine

Yeah, yeah, yeah. In 2016 this board was filled with lefties saying that the Republican party was dead, never to be heard from again. And they were saying that after losing over 1000 seats to Republicans over the last several years. Then when Trump became the nominee the left were bent over busting a gut laughing so much that Trump was going to push the Republican party over the cliff. Democrats are pushing many of their own over the cliff.
