Trying to resign myself to the idea of Trump being re-elected ... like I tried to resign myself to him being elected the first time.

I ask "how bad can it be?"

Surely America is strong enough to survive four more years under assault even if the person committing the assault is president. Surely he can't be much worse than he already has been. Right?

But I keep coming back to the fact that the disregard he has shown for laws, ethics, decency and traditional American values has happened when he still needed to be on good enough behavior to get reelected, and when he still had people in his administration who had dedicated their life to serving the country.

He has cleaned house of people who were capable of giving him good advice.

A reelected Trump would be completely untethered.

I've heard that screaming into the night sky helps.

Can you explain exactly how Trump being president has damaged your life? Or anyone else's?

If he was just a bad president, it wouldn't be *that* bad. The issue is he's corrupt, and the Republican party while corrupt, has really embraced corruption under Trump's leadership.
It's that corruption that makes it harder to root out later...makes it easier for corruption to spread more and more. That's the real danger IMO.

Now that facts are no longer valued, reason is replaced by propaganda, and bad actors like Russia who routinely use their money to corrupt found or gates wide open under Trump, it's a dangerous time.
We would not likely see calamity immediately, but if it's not rooted out and repaired, it will be magnified each cycle.

Look at authoritarian/single party rule around the world. China, Russia... you see them un-corrupting their government and ushering in a fair and free government any time soon? They have done everything they can to ensure it can never happen. Kill opponents, surveillance, use justice system to keep opponents out, gain strength by corrupting others and freeing them from prosecution, disinformation, etc.

Democracy is a fragile thing, and it will be destroyed for petty $$$ without hesitation by many in our society if they are allowed to.

No, we will not withstand 4 more years of this maniacal traitor. We're already losing the Constitution forever in bits and pieces, slowly. But with another 4 years it will dissolve very quickly. The people that will notice it first are the poor. They're already suffering under the cutbacks with the SNAP program. For a family of three to qualify, their gross monthly income cannot exceed $2,300. What counts as income? SNAP counts cash income from all sources, including earned income (before payroll taxes are deducted) and unearned income, such as cash assistance, Social Security, unemployment insurance, and child support. Does anyone believe that a family of 3 living just barely over the 130% poverty line can survive without assistance if they don't qualify for SNAP?

But wait, there's more. Enter 2021 with Trump in his second term. More bad news is going to come for the poorest, sickest, and oldest Americans in this country with cuts to Medicaid, Medicare, and eventually S.S. too. Don't say it's not going to happen, it's already starting to happen, and those entitlements are top priorities on the slash list for Republicans.

When Obama was elected I figured between Congress and the courts, how crazy can it get. They'll at least hold him to the constitution.

I assumed the same thing when Trump was elected. I can no longer make that assumption.

Yes, scream away. Don't destroy and burn things.

Poor dears will have to install scream zones from coast to coast.

I've heard that screaming into the night sky helps.

As you are accustomed to it in 08 and 12, I will go with your personal and highly emotional experience

Tens of millions of Americans are indeed stupid enough to re-elect Trump.

It can definitely happen.

Trying to resign myself to the idea of Trump being re-elected

it's scary to consider that someone who committed impeachable offenses confirmed by himself and multiple primary and secondary sources might skate by and continue as CiC. if the Democrats can't operate in an environment this fertile, then their entire leadership needs to step down immediately. it's partially their fault that this debacle happened in the first place. they need a team which can compete with the kind of Machiavellian minds which gerrymandered most of the country and successfully installed a panting moron using foreign interference and every other means at their disposal. if current Democrats can't play on that field, then it's time for a new coach and staff.

Yeah, like endlessly texting instead of one phone call. Or not using your turn signal - I mean, do I really have to tell you I'm turning? You'll see it. Besides, I'll send you a text about it later. Values we cherish.

Take a deep breath, it will be ok.

I'm kinda hoping Trump's re-election will break them, and they'll become docile and resigned.

A bit early yet to come to that conclusion.

He's about to take 700,000 freeloaders off food stamps.

A lot of people will get caught up in that.

I've heard that screaming into the night sky helps.

LOL. THAT, my friend, is Hillaryous. Grown humans wailing at half of America who elected the greatest president of all time. I believe that says more about them than us.

Can you explain exactly how Trump being president has damaged your life? Or anyone else's?

Well, my damned bank account has grown so much I can't spend the money fast enough....

We survived Obama, we will survive Trump.

there is no way that our allies are sharing all their intel with us like they did before.

i hope that works out for us.

I'll pay attention to your weak, unsupported "corrupt" charge, as soon as you reconcile Hilarity and the DNC's actions during the last election.

Oh, have you bought a newer car or anything like that since your money has grown? I'm happy for you.

A bit early yet to come to that conclusion.

I'm seeing a lot of that resignation to the inevitable.

More and more on the left are realizing Trump bad is not a good campaign slogan.
