TV reporter smacked on bottom during live broadcast: ‘You violated, objectified and embarrassed me’

A TV reporter said she was left “violated” and “embarrassed” after being smacked on the bottom during a live broadcast.
Alex Bozarjian, of WSAV News, was reporting roadside from a 10km race in Savannah, Georgia, when a male participant ran up behind and struck her.
Ms Bozarjian appeared visibly shocked in footage of the incident as streams of runners continued to pass her on Savannah Bridge.
She later condemned the runner, saying: “To the man who smacked my butt on live TV this morning: you violated, objectified, and embarrassed me.
“No woman should EVER have to put up with this at work or anywhere!”

OK, some older guy swatted her on her bottom THROUGH HER RAINCOAT. Oh boo hoo. It was done in fun and jocularity. Nobody was remotely hurt. She wasn't hurt. This is nothing more than leftist PC fake outrage garbage. 30 years ago, this wouldn't have been a story. And we are supposed to be so outraged at this 'predator' we watch the videos to track down this assaulter, so we can get him fired from his job, maybe get him arrested on assault charges.

Come on, man. The guy was being playful. Any girl who grew up with brothers has had stuff like this done to them 1000 times. And it was through a hard plastic raincoat for goodness sake. Maybe it was a little too familiar, maybe the guy was a bit boisterous, I don't know. It's just time to lighten up.

I myself wouldn't do it, because I'm not the backslapping sort. But to crucify this guy for it? Give me a break. And I would say if the girl is really worried about objectification, she should go back to her old high school and raise hell about them handing out condoms to unmarried teenage kids. Talk about objectification!! Also, if you don't want odd stuff happening to you from time to time, don't be a reporter. It used to be if a reporter girl was doing a piece and a passerby kissed her on the cheek, she laughed it off. Took it as a compliment. No big deal. Now a guy gets sentenced for it

Man who kissed reporter identified, charged with harassment - ABC News

I always go back to the iconic 1945 photo of a sailor kissing a random woman on V-J Day. People loved it for years. Today, the poor guy would be arrested and locked up.

Would you be comfortable with some random guy you don't know coming up to your wife and giving her a smack on the backside?

What the 1945 dude did was not cool; the other two examples - meh.

If she were a high-profile reporter, and it happened this way, I'd probably say no biggie.

The 49ers QB called Erin Andrews sideline reporter 'Baby'. He was forced to apologize for it. Ridiculous.

Anybody who touches my wife, girlfriend, sister, or daughter without her permission, especially like that, is getting his teeth punched down his throat.

Hopefully one day you'll learn why.

Dang. Biggest burn I've seen on these forums. Game, set, and match in one sentence. Well done!

If somebody does that to my wife right now, yes it would be a problem for me too. If she's a reporter and somebody does it this like this guy did, it's different.

Yeah, except I took care of it with my answer.

How in the world is that different? Reporters and journalists just have to deal with being groped as part of their job?

It wasn't groping. That indeed would be different. But when you're in the entertainment industy, you have to go with the flow a little more.

Back in the 1990s, Regis Philbin made some sort of comment about Kathie Lee, that her husband Frank Gifford got irate over. Frank said something publicly to Regis, and Regis just downplayed it. Kathie Lee said had Regis not kept his cool, it would have jeopardized their highly successful show.

So yeah, the entertainment industry is just a little different.

What do you call it then? If your daughter decides she wants to get into the entertainment business you're just gonna tell her "Hey, some guys are gonna slap your ass and maybe grab a tit. Just be cool." ?

I dont particularly care, but the my SO may decide she doesn't like it and smack the offender upside his head, which I find entertaining. That said most likely she would give a pithy remark about discipline and spankings and little boys, also entertaining. This all presumes said individual was let close enough to be able to smack her to begin with. That said the reaction is a tad bit over the top and melodramatic IMO. Women smack me on the butt on occasion. I dont mind at all, its funny watching my SO get annoyed with the offending woman, as she has a bit of a jealous streak, one the reasons I keep getting shot down about starting a harem by the by.

Nobody did those things you mention like groping or grabbing a tit. That would be different, but I would tell her people might do unexpected things like this guy did, and you've got to keep cool and laugh it off on air. This young girl kind of lost her cool if you ask me.

Hey, kinda personal question, feel free not to answer if you don't want to, but:

What the actual **** is wrong with you?

Being a reporter constitutes no open invitation for anyone to steal a cheap sex thrill.

What's the matter with you?

Depends on the context of the situation.
Also the "random guy" better be prepared to get wacked by my wife if the situation called for it. He may also have to deal with me.

In the OP situation, I really believe the reporter over reacted.

Well, that's just it. If a group of young women passed by, and one of the slapped the male reporter on the butt, he'd laugh it off, and so would the audience. We see the double standard here.

See? You people always turn it to something it's not. There was no groping or feeling. It was a swat through the raincoat.

Your body belongs to you, and it's you who gives permission, not the situation you're in, not your occupation, not the clothing you're wearing, not your political beliefs, not your sexual orientation, not your "anything"...it all boils down to whether or not you grant permission to others.
Even if you're some way out hedonistic-as-all-git-out swinger at some kind of group sex orgy in some private venue, you STILL retain boundaries and permission, because it's YOUR body, not theirs.
I don't even have hardly any experience with that lifestyle and even I know that boundaries and permission are discussed well in advance and taken seriously at events at those kinds of venues.

My wife's derriere is part of her body, she sits on it, it's hers, it belongs to her, not some random guy running down the street.
I have permission to cozy up to it.
But even I must respect her decision if she says, "quit mauling me, not in the mood".
It's MY good fortune that this is a rare occurrence but she is entitled to say "leave me alone" if she's not feeling receptive.

It's really interesting just how much conservative straight guys really DO understand the concept of boundaries and permission.
All you have to do is put them in around a bunch of drunk and horny gay guys who don't know that they're straight and conservative.

Suddenly the drunk and horny gay guys are the men, and the straight conservative guys are the "women".
That's when they suddenly get the epiphany.
Even if they don't get groped, they still suddenly become VERY aware of the concept, of boundaries and permission. :lamo

Eh. Its not something to get wound up about.

With God Almighty as I witness, I pray you don't have a daughter, and if you do, someone teaches her the truth that nobody has the right to touch her body without her permission.

To suggest anything else is disgusting.

Hope you learn that such behavior will land you in jail.

What an incredibly odd thing to think of. Have you ever observed what you are talking about? If that happened to me, which it wouldn't, do you think I would react meekly as a persecuted person might? If you think so, you don't know me.
