Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) was one of the progressive leaders in New York City credited with blocking $3 billion in public subsidies for Amazon to open an additional headquarters.

But Amazon is moving into NYC despite the lack of subsidies.

The narrative at the time was that she wasn't responsible for it, just cheering the results - she gets credit now? This is tough to follow sometimes

Personally happy to see her get a win after all this time! Want her front and center and making the argument for smaller government at all times

Thing is, even if you don't give her credit or culpability, she was still correct.

She's more of a stop robbing the poor to give to the rich type than small government. But, at least she is half right.
 
AOC was probably conscious of the historical nature of states giving businesses huge subsidies to keep their factories there, only to watch those business move the factories to countries with essentially free labor anyway. Businesses **** states all the time, and she wasn't born yesterday.

You do understand that what you are calling "Subsidies" were actually a slight tax reduction? $27 billion a year instead if the normal $30 billion a year for that size operation. Along with 2500 jobs.

Now they are renting a smaller space and only creating 1500 jobs. Along with paying far less than $27 billion a year.


Oh Ya, a total victory for Alexandra Cowfarts-Cortez.

Just bear in mind, winning isnt always destroying your opponent; sometimes it is picking the opponent who always makes your point for you - let's enjoy giving anyone who has question reason to vote for AOC again

They're "creating" exactly the same number of jobs they were always going to.
 
I don't hold out much hope for the Trumpers and AOC haters to apologize.

WHATABOUTISM is their only recourse, it seems.

Nope. the original deal was 2,500 with a possible 4,000 jobs. this one they are only promising 1,500 jobs.

I want her on the news, front and center, and giving interviews and debates 24/7 - never let her off the tv or hint that she doesn't represent big government

I agree this Dip S**t costing her own constituents at least 1000 jobs is not "Job Creation".

"Job Creation" is the economic policies of President Trump, without a doubt why Amazon can expand at all.

I specifically said that whataboutism is all they have left, now that AMZ is going ahead with the plan.
I don't really care all that much if you question my opinion, is that too much to ask?

The amount of AOC hate and discontent was incredible, now her haters don't have a leg to stand on anymore.

You either don't understand or are pretending not to understand. Either way, I'll elaborate.

There was no "deal." There were vague, unsupported promises. They said they planned on that many jobs if they could get the money. It was an exaggeration to try and convince the government to give them billions in tax breaks.

Job creation is based on need, on demand. Amazon will hire people necessary to complete the work it needs. They're already a massively profitable company. The number of jobs they were truly going to create in NY didn't change.
