Why is it when religious person prophesies: BAD, libs do it: WE HAVE TO LISTEN

We all have heard, presumably, about certain religious sects who have, throughout the history of the US and other countries, predicted the end of the world. Frankly, I can't remember which "cult" said what but anyhow, we all know about these groups and their false prophecies (the world was supposed to end in 1800-something, etc)

We write them off as kooks, and worse

but here come AOC and Co.. telling us the world will end in 12 years if we don't DO SOMETHING NOW! OMG! PLEASE DO SOMETHING NOW!

The US is already a pretty clean country but AOC and company want more taxpayer money coming into the govt, which of course THEY will soon be running, the hopefully think, so THEY can spend said $$ on... God knows what. It probably won't be the climate change crap they talk about.. t hat's just a ruse. But God help us if THEY get massive sums of $$

We know how their fight-poverty programs have worked, don't we? ha ha... to that word "worked". We know how Sylindra worked.. ditto

so anyway, yeh, Why don't people call them kooks?

AOC is called a kook every day of the week on DP.

She's frequently brought up as a byword and a cautionary tale. Her detractors present her as an exemplar of lunacy, zealotry, ignorance, and worse.

Stick around for a while and behold the magic that is DP. :shrug:

what is DP?

yes, I knew she was seen as a loony tunes even by some Democrats

and yet, she is getting attention and that reminds me of that saying There is no such thing as bad publicity

I don't think that is ALWAYS the case.. (we could ask Jeffrey Epstein about that... but alas)

anyway, it's a shame we are supposed to validate insanity so we won't be seen as narrow minded or a hack

DP stands for "Debate Politics", i.e. this message board.

As for AOC getting more attention than she's worth: I agree. I normally don't read or contribute to discussions about her unless they're also debates about her ideology, and even then I don't dip my toe in every pool. I recommend you do the same. Focus your efforts on promoting the policies and politicians you approve of rather than dwelling on the ones you can't stand, magnifying their profile.

I'm sure you've heard of "TDS". Avoid "AOCDS". :)

No one said the world would end. They said our way of life would end. Do you doubt that?
