The reason is that the Catholic Church teaches that abortion is ALWAYS objectively, intrinsically evil (yet hardly any Dem and NONE Of the presidential candidates is pro life).

Those who promote abortion are supposed to be excommunicated but not all priests believe or teach as the Church officially teaches.

It seems the doctrine of eternal Hell has also been thrown out. When is the last time a Catholic in the pews heard a homily on Hell and how FEW (even few Christians) avoid going there? The canonized saints say that very, VERY few make it to Heaven (St Leonard, St Jerome, St Augustine...)

The thing that turned me to Trump when I wasn't sure exactly how I should vote was when he stood before the whole world at a debate (b4 elected) and said

"I am pro-life"

Quite the contrary, actually. Catholics can ONLY vote Democrat.

Unless, of course, they're Dominionist fundamentalists like that pathologically dishonest whore William Barr.

The Catholic church does not tell you how to vote. The most they will do is guilt you.

Hi! Curiously, though, it's rumored in some circles that they might be able to serve in the office of President of the United States of America.

Go figure.

you must not be Catholic.

You don't know the Catechism

(then again, a lot of Catholics don't either but the whole world knows that the Catholic Church is against abortion for ANY reason, save ectopic pregnancies where both mother and child would die if the pregnancy continued)

Yes. Remember when Trump said he was pro-partial birth abortion? Remember when he said he was vehemently pro-choice? Remember when he told his mistress to abort her baby so his wife didn't find out about their affair? Yes, so do I, and so does everyone else with a brain.

You were conned.

I never said the Church told people how to vote.

And if people don't feel guilty for killing their children, looks like they are psychopaths

you must not be a Christian. When someone repents and attempts to right his wrongs, he is

What?

What is the missing word?

you tell me. Even non-Christians know the answer

And you honestly believe a known womanizing lying man is really "pro-life"?

Trump didn't repent. In fact, just the opposite. He proudly boasted that he doesn't have to seek God's forgiveness for his sins.

He's conning you and you're letting him. How pathetic.

I'm from a Catholic family (not personally Catholic, but most of my family on my mom's side is, and due to being Catholic, they're a huge family). They vote almost exclusively Democrat. Because most Catholic doctrine in fact deals with individual consequences, faith, not that of others. It is one huge difference between the Catholicism I was raised under and Southern Baptists that I was raised around. Many Catholics, especially those who experience places where they are highly outnumbered, tend to believe that their beliefs are between them and God, their actions between them and God. And that politics is separate from religion (not all Catholics, but a good proportion).

You know that birth control and divorce are against Catholic teachings too, right? But most politicians support those. In fact our President has been divorced a couple of times.

That's not repenting, its lying for your vote.

He isn't righting his wrongs, he's lying.

Duh.

OK, you can read his mind. I will remember that when I need to figure out what is in other people's minds... I will just come to you

And I'm pretty sure not committing adultery is one of those 10 Commandments.

And I'm pretty sure not committing adultery is one of those 10 Commandments.

George Carlin narrowed it down to 2.

And 1 was, always be faithful and honest to the provider of the nookie.

well, you can continue to judge Trump on his PAST life. I will forgive him and I am sure God will also. And of course God is the only one anyone has to "impress" so--

A person's faith is NOT private. Jesus said to go into the whole world and preach the Gospel.

I would like to add that He said to obey the 10 Commandments ("Thou shalt not murder") He said to love your neighbor as yourself, not LESS THAN yourself (we are not to kill our neighbor in the womb).

Trump appears to be more Catholic than most Catholics I "know" He is certainly more CAtholic than those who vote for abortion- promoting candidates. And if life and death for innocent human beings created in God's image is not a priority issue

something is obviously wrong

Trump was emphatically pro-choice for many, many years before he sought the Republican nomination. Just another lie for the suckers.

Utterly irrelevant to what I stated.

Oh, dear. Why are you pretending to be a Christian?

and when did Trump say that? 3 years ago?

I haven't heard him say it recently.. but hey, it's a free country. You can judge him all you want. You may want to, however, recall the words of Jesus

"Judge not, lest you be judged
for by what measure you mete, so shall it be meted unto you"

So, you believe rape, incest and/or abuse babies are a gift from God. Got it.

why do we have to be suckers?

let's just pretend for the sake of argument that he is merely conning us, doesn't really believe the unborn should have the right to go on living.

I would still vote for him

because for one, we do not KNOW such things as what his true motives are

and 2) it would have been more likely back at the time of that debate (where he said he is pro life) that being pro life would NOT help him get elected. The country was and may still be equally split on the issue...

So there goes your theory (and your judging)
