I think it would be interesting to see how many people on this message board have changed parties, how many have changed parties because of Trump and how many have remained loyal to the party in spite of the changes seen within the parties over the years.

I tried to make this a poll thread but ran out of time.

The choices were

1) Changed from Republican to Democrat
2) Changed from Democrat to Republican
3) Changed from Republican to Democrat exclusively because of Trump
4) Changed from Democrat to Republican exclusively because of Trump
5) Have stayed loyal to my party no matter the changes seen

I'm still registered as a Republican so I can vote for William Weld in the NH primary next year, but I'm finished with the Republican Party, thanks to Donald Trump.

I've stayed the same, voting republican since 1996 (92 was Ross Perot). What's changed, primarily due to the propaganda erroneously referred to as news or media, is that I've gone further underground with my political views to avoid persecution and will not voice support of Trump openly when not anonymous - no bumper stickers, no signs in the yard, etc. However, my desire to vote against democrats has grown stronger with each election cycle, mostly due to the propaganda demonizing my values, and as a consequence, my person.

I was an avowed democrat in high school and most of college, mainly because my parents were. Then I became a libertarian. But I learned of the absolute futility of the libertarian party, and sort of became a republican. I don't consider myself a republican, though. I'm kind of all over the place.
