It may well, but IMHO it would be politically wiser for the republicants to keep the "trial" short to help encourage the demorats to nominate a farther left candidate (Warren would be perfect) in their primaries. Trump is not very popular (outside of GOP loyalists) and needs all the advantages that can be given to him.

I don't see anybody crossing party lines in the House. Even members like Hurd are clearly with the GOP, so they can have those juicy private sector jobs after retirement.

The Senate might be different. Manchin might vote to acquit, while Murkowski or one of the blue/purple state Republican might vote to convict. Romney is full of hotair. He's just trying to look moral and mighty before he ultimately falls in line with the party.

That's bold. Do you really think there will be some in the House GOP who will vote to impeach? I can't think of a single person. Will Hurd is not going to so I can't think of another who might.

The only Republicans I see voting for conviction are Romney and Murkowski, but I think that neither will.

I don't think Democratic leadership thought this thru when they called for the impeachment inquiry. In their attempt to wound Trump before the 2020 election, they may not have gauged how annoyed the American public would be with the whole fiasco that everyone knew was never going to get anywhere in the first place.

I'm not going to waste time predicting what we all know will happen with the vote but I will predict that Trump's approval ratings jumps to the high 40's low 50's.


Emerson College of all places just released a poll with Trump at +1 with a 48-47 approval rating.

They can mess with Hunter Biden and the WB plenty in short order, but should get this mess out of the way ASAP so that they can blame the House demorats for having wasted much more time than they did and claim to want to get back to doing the people's business. After all, some of them have primary campaigns that they need to attend to.

That said, if somehow there is enough to impeach him, it's a foregone conclusion he will not be convicted. I feel pretty strongly that at least 2 Democrats will also not vote to convict: Doug Jones and Joe Manchin. And I can also see Kyrsten Sinema voting against conviction as well.

The clowns controlling the House will impeach the President. They wasted everyone's time by engaging in this farce. Their vote was a forgone conclusion.

The Senate will hold a trial, and witnesses will be called.

The House's actions will not be supported in the Senate.

Will it? We can't be sure that the Russians won't repeat their performance of 2016 in 2020. It may even be worse considering Trump and Moscow Mitch have stonewalled any measures to secure the election. We cannot afford to have another election with questionable results.
 
He will be impeached and for me it still remains to be seen what the gop senators do but I'm tending to lean towards they will do nothing.

Trump will be impeached by Congress and acquitted by the Senate. Still, looking forward to witnessing Chief Justice Roberts presiding over the trial. It’ll be the first time most of us have, or ever will, witness him in action.

That is a lie. No one denied access to the server by the FBI. The image of the servers provided to the FBI by Crowdstrike was enough to indict 12 Russians for hacking the DNC. You are promoting a GRU conspiracy theory with no basis in fact. You should be ashamed to call yourself an American

The reports will either full of wild accusations without any evidence or will be nothing burgers. With Barr as Ag we cannot be sure. There is no in between and will have no effect on the crimes committed by Trump in Ukraine. You do know that these false narratives come straight out of the Kremlin don't you?

Wait a minute, once this crap gets to the senate, can't the GOP call in any witness they want too? So they can force the whistleblower and the Bidens to come testify right?

Horowitz's last two reports lacked a lot of meat to them, and much of it was conjecture. I'm not saying that's the case here, but there are many details here that we don't know.

I think the FBI had a very shady relationship with Steele, and they should have cut off contact with him once they knew he was leaking to the media. Horowitz is said to have been critical of this, so it's possible that he found somebody to have lied about their discussions with Steele.

If that's all it is then it's a nothingburger. However, if the FISA warrants themselves were altered, then that's an absolute violation of Carter Pages fourth amendment rights, and I'll be the first in line to call for the agent to be thrown under the jail.

Let's wait.

fair enough.....but hypothetically speaking.....if worst case scenario happens to Dems....lots of corruption is exposed....if you're Pelosi do you want to be locked into a Senate Trial controlled by GOP?
