'Slave for sale,' Craigslist post: teen is accused of a hate crime, police say - CNN
More racial harmony 'promotion' from our friends at CNN by pointing out specific and superficial incidents, which defines to the rest of us what racism is supposed to mean. I can understand that what happened was wrong, however the leftist concept of how racism is expressed, and what it means at its core, is incorrect.
First, let's take a look at the environment where this incident took place:
Statistics / Naperville Central Statistics
It's a high performing school, with high expectations for the students in general. As with all things government, we have racial information as to which races attend the school:
Blacks make up only 4% of the school. What good is government-contrived racial information without pointing out academic performance by race? Here it is:
For good measure, the stats include those students on IEP's. An IEP is a specific plan for a student with special education needs. Performance-wise, the black students of the school have similar rankings to the IEP students.
Now, the big question is why the black students are vastly underperforming - barely above the IEP students. CNN would have us believe that it's because a kid called another kid a 'slave'. Perhaps there's a confederate statue within sight of the school that has to be taken down. Then there was that really mean white guy in Charlottesville that ran over people. Then there's Trump and Russia or Ukraine or Stormy Daniels or whatever.
Another option: An excuse for poor performance by minorities has always been a lack of resources. It could be that Naperville hands out brand new books to the white kids, but only gives scrap paper to the black kids. Perhaps the white kids at Naperville get taught in climate-controlled, well-lit classrooms, but Naperville sends all the black kids to the dark, dank and cold basement for their classes.
The previous paragraph isn't far from the mark as to the true core of what racism is and how it's manifested. The 'lack of resources' in reality isn't physical, but has everything to do with expectations and lack of esteem. In the mind of the entire school - the teachers, the students, the parents - no matter their race - they all have lower expectations for the black students. A massive, pervasive issue reduced to a soundbite ("slave for sale") by CNN.
