The cult might largely never admit wrong on trump. But some Republican posters are likely to say why they were wrong to support him. To explain it away. They'll eventually work out a standard talking point, but who wants to try a first draft?

I suggest the line that you barely knew him.

I guess the "but Hillary is the devil" defense.

I'd agree earlier, but that's starting to be weak as trump is shown for his crimes. But voting against Hillary actually has a lot of truth to it.

I wouldn't be jumping for joy quite yet, buddy. I know your Trump obsession is fever pitch but just a word of advice.

Don't believe the MSM.

Reminds me of the scene in ‘1984’ where the enemies of the state confess their “sins” shortly before being executed.

I don't think that would slow any of his defenders down. In fact, it will help build up the 'deep state frame job' momentum.

Maybe we should offer them a one time amnesty?:lamo

Well, their narratives are in tatters. Their defense is non existent. Nunes is literally lying to the nation. His only audience seems to be trump himself.

What an embarassment the Republicans are.

Well we're talking about people who are renouncing their support for trump, not the ones still supporting.

No defense is needed since every witness has testified either they know absolutely nothing OR testified that there was no bribery, no extortion and no quid pro quo by Trump - basically all witnesses who exonerate Trump.

Who will be the first Democrat on the forum to admit what you, they and we all know: Schiff not only has NOT made his case, he has called witnesses - for which everyone with direct knowledge testified that Trump did NOT commit bribery, extortion or any illegal "quid pro quo." I bet it's not you.

Speaking personally, let me make this clear:

I NEVER want any Republicans to "admit they were wrong" about voting for Trump.

I wouldn't want it anymore than I would want Democrats "to admit that they were wrong" about voting for a Democrat.
A lot of people did not HAVE a clear picture of who and what Donald Trump was.
Yes, they knew he was brash, obnoxious and said stupid crap.
Oh well, so what?
I would never vote for a president with a personality like his but plenty of people overlook that stuff if they think he represents what they want.

Dear Trumpers: I respect that. Okay? I may disagree with what you want but I respect the notion that you overlooked his toxic personality in order to get what you wanted.
We do that too sometimes, we overlook something in order to get something else when we choose a candidate.
It's human nature and I understand that.

But now you KNOW what a crook he is, now you know he is a danger to us, now you know that he is methodically and systematically gutting the country of our nation's dearest and most essential values.
NOW YOU KNOW.

And we all know, don't we? Most of us do know this stuff now, so it is time to admit that maybe Donald Trump was so good at packaging his flash over substance and so good at hiding his personal greed, and so DAMN GOOD at hiding his criminal mobster tendencies, that A LOT OF PEOPLE got snookered.

Let me make something else very clear:
Just because we all get snookered from time to time does not mean we are stupid, not automatically.
And in the case of a person like Trump, who has honed, fine tuned and refined his realty tee vee act for most of his 73 years, it's easy to understand how it would fool tons of people.

It happens.
And I understand that, too.

But now we know, so now it is time for ALL OF US to PUT ASIDE our petty squabbles and save this country from a clear and present danger, a danger to our national security, a danger to our constitutional values and a danger to our standing as a force for good in this world.
We can fight like cats and dogs later.

Right now we all have a job to do.

The movie 'Revenge of the Nerds' is all I could think of while watching Nunes and the other republicans spin desperately trying to regain their self-respect.

True. Not voting for Trump, or better, voting against Trump, is all that matters.
The precondition of admitting one was wrong...irrelevant to that top priority. If people want amnesty, I agree, it's freely offered ;)

Trump was charismatic in his pre-presdiency..and some no doubt got lured in by his lies...I understand this.

Or even testimony.

Believe Trump. He's a straight shooter.

I'm pretty sure at some point Trump has done something illegal, and has done all the things you mentioned. Come on now, neither you or I are some babe in the woods and thinks Trump is some kind of innocent lawful guy in his day to day dealings.

The thing is - that doesn't matter to me at this point nor does this pony show that everyone is just using to their advantage.

I would rather see people who support or have supported him admit they were wrong because Trump is a terrible human being who should not represent our country and our values.

I agree with the sentiment of your post; that being said, the first step in fixing a problem is admitting that there is a problem!

That's all I want and I think that's all a lot of people want!
If someone fed the baby butterscotch pudding last night and the lil critter is crapping a superhighway in his diaper the next morning, it's time to change the diaper and bathe the baby, I don't care that you accidentally gave the baby pudding, let's just focus on getting rid of the massive poopy diaper.

We can discuss the butterscotch pudding later.

Admit there is a problem and admit it is not going to get fixed all by itself, then let's get to work.

I realize that the hardcore Trumpers will never admit there is a problem. I am directing this at the millions who "just voted for him" because they thought it was the better choice.
Well, now we know it was a terrible choice, but accidents happen.
We need to clean up the goddamn accident site before we see a bigger accident.

I'd love to see one Trump hater admit how dirty and shady Schiff and his cabal are. Admit this "whistleblower' hoax and the collusion between Schiff, the WB and Vindman.

I'll be the first. <disclaimer> I switched parties recently.

I was wrong on Trump. I didn't vote for him, but I would have if I'd of known that he was going to to turn the US government into Peyton Place. Entertainment has value.
