The real threat is not Fox News. The real threat is a right wing mythology, that is now reinventing WHY we fought the revolutionary war. AG Barr, in his most recent speeches, seeks to reinvent history, claiming we fought to end not the tyranny of King George, but of his "abusive" parliament, which is conveniently NOT listed in our declaration of independence, and is not mentioned by Jefferson or other founding fathers, in the same capacity, at all.

Lawyers Call for AG Barr's Impeachment After Federalist Society Speech | Law & Crime

Barr is the most partisan AG in this nation's history. He embraces a beyond federalist position, that the President and the executive have more authority than the constitution gives them; that the president is in essence a monarch, beholden to no one, and that our country requires a strong executive to function.

AG Barr and DJT are essentially the antithesis of conservatism and libertarianism; they act in a fashion that would reshape this country and everything it stands for.

Bill Barr’s theory of the unitary executive is wrong. So it’s not surprising that Barr’s criticisms of Mueller are incoherent when he tries to apply that theory to the Mueller Report.

This is what the long game looks like, folks. The right wing began pushing this with Reagan, and Bush - pushing for more and more and more executive authority, because damned democracy gets in the way of what the right wing wants.

This must be resisted at -all costs.-

And? His position is correct. Why don't you enlighten us and defend AG barr?

unitary executive monarchy.

What dopey word salad will the left come up with next!

Read the articles. It's clear you did not. This is a push for an executive unrestrained by congress.

Do you support that notion?

Do you have any evidence to refute the OP or not?

SO far barr is right.

Leftist of this country have waged a scorched earth attack against a sitting president.
they are constantly making up things that have no proof or evidence to support in order to
undermine and weaken the presidency.

your story is a bit bias. The federalist society holds that the constitution reigns supreme in which it does.
it is the legal frame work through which government operates.

there is also only 1 way to change the constitution and that is through the amendment outline as authorized in the constitution.
they are not radicals as your bias article claims.

if they are radicals then guess what the founding fathers were radicals as well.

the fact you think we are a democracy shows how much you are incorrect.
we are not a true democracy we are a republic.

Barr is completely right in his assessment of mueller report.
it was a hodgepodge mess of nonsense.

that violated the founding principles and constitutional rights of this country which was innocent until proven guilty.
if mueller found no evidence (which he didn't) then trump is innocent.

trump doesn't have to prove himself innocent.

the mueller hearing was an unmitigated disaster for leftist in congress.
mueller had no clue what was going on with his own investigation 99% of the time.

no where did i see barr call for a "Unitary Executive" or whatever the hell that means.
leftist making up **** again.

all i see is a bunch of leftist with their panties in a wad because we have an AG that puts the rule of law
above their cry's of torches and pitch forks.

Did you read the article and opinion piece?

Do you know what the unitary executive theory is?

Barr has written about it and commented on it in the past.

Please don't bother replying to me with this incendiary nonsense. This is the country that is at stake and what AG Barr endorses would fundamentally change our nation into a banana republic with a kneecapped legislative branch and an empowered executive beyond judicial or legislative oversight.

Trump is literally arguing he cannot be investigated, charged, anything, in his latest lawsuits.

Is that something you embrace?

Please address the unitary executive theory and what Barr and others are pushing for, please. Do not bother with the partisan trash here. My concern is this theory and those who push it.

Do you have any evidence to refute the OP or not?

None of them are addressing the OP.

Frankly, I am beginning to think the mods need to make it so you can ban certain posters from commenting on a post you create. At this stage, despite the fact the unitary theory threatens the very america we all love, they are unable to actually discuss it with any semblance of seriousness.

The IG report release must be on the immediate horizon.

The sad truth is that Trump supporters don't even want democracy. :( I know that you and I don't see eye-to-eye on everything, but at least we can probably agree that the ultimate power in this nation must rest with the people, not a few select entities.

Yeah? Well this post ^ doesn't address the OO, either. Congratulations. You've just nominated yourself as a victim of your own desires.

We really only disagree on the Bernie movement and how to implement specific policies. Overall, you and I are more in line than we think.

I completely agree that the ultimate power of this country is in we the people, and MUST remain so. It must remain so. Our founders were HIGHLY skeptical of the federalist position and anyone with ears or eyes can read/listen to the federalist papers and see that the primary position of the founders was that these branches of government are co-equal.

I dispute any assertion that the right wing is making that this is "not a concern."

I dispute any assertion that what Trump has done here is "acceptable".

Did you read the article and opinion piece?

I do not care about opinions. opinions are meaningless only facts matter.

Do you know what the unitary executive theory is?

Since barr said nothing of that it is meaningless ranting.

Barr has written about it and commented on it in the past.
There is nothing that barr said in his speech that amounts to that.

Please don't bother replying to me with this incendiary nonsense. This is the country that is at stake and what AG Barr endorses would fundamentally change our nation into a banana republic with a kneecapped legislative branch and an empowered executive beyond judicial or legislative oversight.

we have 3 co-equal powers of government. Right now we have a congress that is out of control and think they have power over the presidency.
the judiciary has finally been brought back into line where it should be based on the constitution.

nothing i said was incendiary. i honestly don't care about leftist getting the panties in a wad it is meaningless.

Trump is literally arguing he cannot be investigated, charged, anything, in his latest lawsuits.
Is that something you embrace?

I have stated that those are horrible reasons to argue in court.
Whether a president can be charged while in office seems to be a bit tougher as it is not a settled matter, however given most legal opinion i have read
it seems to be the case as far as criminal trials go. civil trials can still be issued.

can a president be investigated yes as long as there is probable cause to do so.

If there is no probable cause then no he can't be investigated. investigate till we find a crime is unconstitutional.
investigate so we can make up a crime with no evidence or fact to support it is also unconstitutional no matter who the president is.

if the investigation was started with unverified accusations then that would mean no probable as well.
sorry we out lawed witch trials a while ago.

the standard of the US is innocent until proven guilty. that means beyond a reasonable doubt.
something that leftist don't seem to understand.

Sure, my comment is more a lamentation about the fact right wingers on this forum do not want to discuss the article, and what it means for our nation.

Its something Kavanaugh embraced whole heartedly

The article is nothing but left wing pseudointellectual babble
Means nothing in real life.

No, you don't understand that that is not the standard for impeachment. ;)

Okay. I'm really too wound up watching Mr. Haney conduct an impeachemrnt hearing over a foreign policy dispute right now to read about what a sumbitch Barr is. As I already said, that the media would begin an attack on Barr only tells me bad news for the left is on the way from the DOJ, which should be a song title...all right. It shouldn't.

Actually, I turned the TV off as soon as a saw Schiff on the screen. He insults my tender sensibilties. The other ones, too.

No, you don't understand that that is not the standard for impeachment. ;)

sorry i follow the constitution.
you want to impeach the president you need to have evidence and facts of a crime.

that is what the constitution calls for. high crimes and misdemeanors.
i know leftist hate the constitution but not my issue.
