If you didn't know the Fair Housing Act applies to all rentals, you aren't a landlord.

No no, you are not going to weasel out of this by lying.
We were talking about new HUD GUIDELINES, not the Fair Housing Act.

The 1968 Fair Housing Act is a federal act in the United States intended to protect the buyer or renter of a dwelling from seller or landlord discrimination. Its primary prohibition makes it unlawful to refuse to sell, rent to, or negotiate with any person because of that person's inclusion in a protected class.

PROTECTED CLASSES:

Race – Civil Rights Act of 1964
Religion – Civil Rights Act of 1964
National origin – Civil Rights Act of 1964
Age (40 and over) – Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967
Sex – Equal Pay Act of 1963 and Civil Rights Act of 1964
The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission interprets 'sex' to include discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity[2]
Pregnancy – Pregnancy Discrimination Act

Familial status – Civil Rights Act of 1968 Title VIII: Prohibits discrimination for having children, with an exception for senior housing. Also prohibits making a preference for those with children.
Disability status – Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990
Veteran status – Vietnam Era Veterans' Readjustment Assistance Act of 1974 and Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act
Genetic information – Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act

If you have problems with any of the above you SHOULD NOT be a landlord and personally, if I ever did find out that you WERE in fact, legally discriminating against any of the above groups, I would personally see to it that the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development was informed of your violations.

Nope. Nobody said you couldn't be an American if you aren't conservative. But you can't be a Christian if you aren't conservative.

That's a literal example of "forcing one's religious views down another person's throat".
They are YOUR religious views, and that is all they ever will be.

Religious views are a lot like a PENIS.

It's perfectly okay for you to have a penis.
It is even perfectly okay for you to be proud of your penis.
But no one is okay with you whipping it out in public and no one is okay with you trying to shove it down their throat without their permission first.

You have neither the right nor invitation to decide who is and who is not a Christian, or any other religion for that matter.

It's only logical that if one doesn't believe in or practicing Christian principles, he is not a Christian.

Atheists certainly don't get to make that call.

The committee of true Christian's have examined your application and found it wanting.. denied.

Paying for pre-existing conditions is not insurance. It's welfare. Had you been on Samaritan when your son was born, I suspect his defects and operations would have been covered.

It didn't exist when he was born and it still doesn't matter because he would have hit the lifetime cap a long time ago anyway.
You want to use it, go ahead, but you will not be forcing everyone else to use it... ever.
And I don't give a damn if you think it's welfare. I did not ask your opinion as to whether it's okay with your God and your religion if my son is going to live or die.

It's only logical that if one doesn't believe in or practicing Christian principles, he is not a Christian.

You seem to have difficulty acknowledging the fact that you're not in a position of authority on this matter.
You've lost this debate...badly...and you've identified yourself as a theocrat.

Move to Iran or the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. They do act as a religious authority over there, and you'd make a good chief of "The Committee for the Protection of Virtue and Prevention of Vice."

Committee officers and volunteers have been known to patrol public places, with volunteers focusing on enforcing strict rules of hijab, segregation between the sexes, and daily prayer attendance. Officers were authorized to pursue, detain and interrogate suspected violators.

Too bad the United States of America in its wisdom did not write such a thing into our Constitution, isnt it?
If the Founding Fathers were so Christian, you'd think they would have.

I'm talking about what landlords can and can't do. In many states, the laws says you must not prohibit people from renting who have an immoral living arrangement. But as I said, it is moot, because the small landlords I know all say if they don't want somebody in their house for any reason, they ain't getting the house. Laws aren't going to change human nature. But that is why landlords don't give reasons for denial. The simply say "We're going in another direction" or "We have decided to give it to this other family". No reason given. Case closed.

I do think the country would be better off if everyone followed the teachings of my Catholic Church.

Not sure how I'm forcing my religion down everybody's throat.

But you can't be a Christian if you aren't conservative.
<<<----Right there, there it is.

Maybe they cannot be a member of YOUR church, but they can identify as Christian all day long if they like even if they do not suscribe to YOUR PERSONAL religious views.
I realize that angers you, it angers MANY evangelical extremists.

In fact, back in the 1930's groups of evangelical extremists actually started a real SHOOTING WAR in Jonesboro Arkansas.

"The Jonesboro Church Wars"

Maybe you should consider telling your group to start a war so you can force all non-conservative Christians to disavow their identity.
Good luck with that!

Nobody's forcing people to be conservative. But you can't be Christian if you aren't. It's still your choice. I don't understand how that's forcing anybody to do anything.

With the modestly priced Save-to-share plan, the cap is virtually unlimited. No one has ever reached it or come close. When I signed up, they said the cap was at about $5 million. No one at that time had even reached $1 million. It's just a tremendous plan. I can't say enough great things about it....But there are rules of behavior. Simple rules, but rules.

Catholics aren't extremists. We're the mainstream. Atheists are the extremist fringe.

Oh, Black people now. I thought you said gangbangers? I was pretty sure that was a dog whistle, but thanks for confirming.

Since you already know everything about me, why did you bother asking the question? Should have just told everyone about me in the first place.

You don't think white people can be in gangs? This says more about you than Klattu or me.

Rules are there for a reason and that's fine if people are members of that organization.
Sorry but I already learned what I needed to know, and the model fails for people like us, and that's just the facts.
If you can't accept those facts, that's on you.

Again, you are not in a position of authority to set down those criteria.

It might not work for you now, but at one point it would have. As for most people, they can decide if they can follow the Christian behavioral part. If they disqualify themselves, that's their choice.

Consider yourself disqualified

I was raised Catholic.
At age nine the pastor told me (immediately after my Confirmation) that he would pray for my soul's salvation despite me being "the product of an unholy union".

"Unholy union": My mother was Catholic and my father was Jewish and they were forced to marry in the vestibule of her church because he was forbidden from the sanctuary.

So you can take your Catholicism and cram it.

That was in error on his part. But you didn't check it out for such an important decision? Please don't use something someone did 50 years ago as an excuse.
