Dem Gov Holds on in Louisiana

A democrat getting re-elecetd is almost as big of an upset as democrats turning a blue state blue in Virginia just weeks ago.

Hah! In ruby red LA, too! And after Trump went out on the limb for him this week! There's no fall-back backstory this time like KY, where the GOP can blame it on the candidate. Maybe the tide is a changing, after all.

Since Trump attained office, 9 statehouses and 41 House districts have flipped. And I believe the number of GOP House retirement announcements is around 18 (and growing!) for 2020. After seeing the Dem suburban surge again in the recent KY election, I'm sure we'll see a few more GOP House retirement announcements early next year from those in similar districts! Good!

tRUMP said he'd drain the swamp. I guess R's leaving is tRUMPs plan.

Louisiana goes back and forth between GOP and Dem govs. But don't let facts get in the way of your parade.

Yes, and now, they back away from tRUMP.

By how many points did Trump take the state three years ago?

Speaking as a Louisiana resident, it's absolutely astonishing that JBE won reelection. I haven't been able to take two steps outside without a flyer hitting me in the face telling me lies about how JBE is giving my tax dollars to illegals or how he's killing babies. I couldn't watch a ****ing YouTube video without seeing an ad of trump and the Republican candidate rispone finger blasting each other.

Sleep well Republicans. Deep red state. Tons of money. Three trump rallies. Still lost. Y'all are going to get buried in 2020.

I followed your results on nytimes. Once the votes dropped from the parishes of Orleans and East Baton Rouge, it was a done deal. There was a huge vote by older African-Americans, especially in early voting, as Edwards won Orleans parish by 100k and both Baton Rouge parishes by a total of 60k.

Rispone was an awful candidate, just like Bevin in KY. His attacks on Abraham in the top two primary hurt him in the 5th CD, as I saw several blue parishes up there. Rep. Abraham would have been much tougher to beat, IMO. It should be obvious to even the most liberal of DEMs that they can’t win without AA’s.

I doubt national Democrats have a clue as to why JBE won. The heartbeat bill and gun rights are anathema to archipelago DEMs, but not to older AA’s. Medicaid Expansion decreased your uninsured by half. Edwards rebuilt your economy that Jindal destroyed. I’m sure you know it all.

More money for education. JBE never mentioned impeachment. He signed an executive order protecting the rights of LGBTs. I can tell you that I’m a lot closer to Edwards and Beshear than I am to the far-left barking loons that will cost Democrats dearly next year.

So Trump wins the state by 20 and puts his name on the line by making campaign appearances in this election and then sees his GOP candidate lose.

Not too good for Trump. And this comes on the heels of the party loosen Kentucky.

The writing is on the wall.

I thought Rispone was an awful candidate also. But my Trump loving friends and family loved the guy. I get the JBE is a fairly conservative Democrat. And in Louisiana he has to be. But the rest of the country isn't Louisiana. JBE has been trashed as a socialist, baby killer, illegal lover by constant ads and flyers and billboards but he still won in Trump country. I think you can't take that but anything as a plus for democrats as a whole.
