In a polling thread I predicted that in the Senate the vote to remove Trump from office would be 47 -53, with a couple of party defections on each side. I now want to change that to a total of 45-55, with zero Republicans voting to remove Trump from office and 2-3 Democrats failing to vote to remove Trump from office. I also now believe that when the actual vote in the House as to whether to impeach happens, there will now be zero defections from Republicans and a couple of defections from the Democrats.

In other words, this will be a total disaster for the Democrats. Zero Republicans from either the House or Senate will be on board to impeach while both the House and Senate will have Democrats defecting from the party line. McConnell will have the last laugh, exposing the Democratic overreach and abuse of power for what it was and the impeachment will give Trump a big win, raising unparalleled amounts of money for 2020 and being able to use the ammunition that not even moderate Republicans backed impeachment while Democrats couldn't even muster up 100% from their own party.

Democrats were hoping they could move the needle on Republicans and it severely backfired, causing zero Republican's needles to move and, most importantly, having some in their own party to not have their needles moved toward impeachment. And the worst part for the Democrats was there were a handful of Republicans who started out with an open mind but the partisan sham investigations have shown them that the impeachment was indeed nothing but a partisan sham.

Couldn't have just added this epiphany to your other thread?

I think you may be correct that Republicans will not vote to remove trump, however I think ma y, maybe even enough will find better places to be during the vote.

It is not 2/3rds of the Senate, it is 2/3rds of those present that vote.

This is just starting and trump is already screwed.

Republicans are going to be finding their safest exit, a d that will be remaining neutral...

LOL. Hilarious. So now you're resting your hopes on Republican Senators staying home and watching Gilligan's Island reruns? Really?

if this thread isn't a perfect example of Republicans putting party before country i'm not sure what is.

I think you're correct, but underwriting your post is an assumption that motives are relatively pure. I don't think they are. Republicans won't vote for impeachment no matter what the evidence shows. Democrats will mostly vote for it no matter what the evidence shows.

The really relevant question, then, is what the evidence will show, and how it will be perceived by American voters. And I think that, at least as things seem to be shaping up, it's not going to be a good look for Republicans.

So you think that most Republicans are fine with the idea of expanding Presidential powers, by placing limits on what is impeachable? A future Democratic President will be fine making backroom deals with Turkey, Russia and Saudi Arabia to get to the bottom of Trump family deals in those countries? This is the America Republican Senators and Representatives want to live in?

Pretty sure even if Trump were in front of yuo SCREAMING he was ONLY doing this because of Joe Biden, you'd still be spouting the same garbage, so I have no capability to take you seriously.

Im not convinced pelosi is gonna call for an impeachment vote. This is a big show and when it concludes she will declare victory and abstain from the actual floor vote to impeach deferring to the voters to decide in 2020.

The problem she has if she calls for an impeachment vote and has enough votes (which im skeptical of) is that then control of the process leaves her control and leaves them in an impotent position freeing the Republicans to present their defense of the blatantly partisan attack on Trump.

They are playing a game of political chicken and if the Republicans dont blink the Democrats have to know it will be a losing proposition for them.

I dont think they are confident they can beat Trump on the issues so they feel the need to manufactor a controversy as a hail mary attempt to convince voters its immoral to vote for Trump.

Yes I do, they are cowards hiding behind trump.

When trump starts to get beat up they are going to claim they hear their mommy calling and run for cover...

Your prediction has been noted and written down. We will make you accountable for making it.

I assume you have swallowed the News Channel's in their addiction to dog pile on the carpet reporting thus checking the pulse of GOP Senators on Removal every ten seconds. Has the needle moved yet? How bout now? How bout now? How bout now........

Country of blithering idiots.

Mittens will be on board.
If it goes to the senate he might but i doubt it. Him and Murkowski are both maybes but the rest will hold the line. On the other side manchin will break with the party and most likely a few other redstate democrat senators will also cross the line.

Its one thing to agree to an inquiry but its another matter to explain to people why you voted to impeach or to remove a sitting president after the evidence has been presented.

Pelosi is telling herself the same thing.

Too late now.

vice versa with Dems, you mean. there isn't enough worthwhile evidence to remove the president from this charade.

If it comes to that, democrats best hope is they can bribe enough retiring senators to vote their way on their way out (not sure how many there are). It is political suicide for the rest of them. Thats why i think even Romney will begrudgingly hold the republican line.

Mittens will be on board.

If McCain was still alive, he would have already voted too impeach.

He may rise from the dead to vote to impeach.

Rising from the dead will finally give him the recognition he always believed he was due.

Well, the consolation for the Republicans is that Trump will appoint two more justices to the SCOTUS in his second term and the high court will be constructionist for 30 years.

The country's in great shape.

The Democrat-Socialists are trying to undo all of the measures taken to maintain the greatness.

What are talking about?

Off topic as usual. Just had to find a way to get that Democrat-Socialist label in there regardless of whether it was topical or not.

You guys are so transparent you are almost invisible.

There is no evidence.

The articles of impeachment are just laying there with blanks in areas that might indicate what crime was committed.

Filling in those blanks seems to have been changing since the election as follows:

Russia
Colluuuuuuuusion
Mueller Report.
Campaign Finance
Ukraine
Quid Pro Quo
Bribery

This all boils down to "We just HATE ORANGE PEOPLE.

To even the least intelligent, this shows that this whole practice is an exercise in the end justifying the means.

The Democrat-Socialists are so committed to the lies they are telling that the truth no longer exists for them.

I wonder if they'll ever decide to do any work.

One thing is certainly true: If Obama had done One Fifth of the under-handed crap that Trump has done so far, Obama would be hanging from an oak tree outside of Hogsville Georgia with the Republicans dancing far into the late hours of the night, celebrating their actions.

Mittens is rather shameless. He doesn't have to answer to Utah. He is a Mormon.
