Every bill of importance has riders that are unacceptable to republicans. When republicans do it, it's called a "poison pill". The democrats refuse to accept the bipartisan necessity of compromise to move legislation, so they are just digging in their heels rather than giving Trump a win.
I hope 2020 clears the deck of democrats, and we can start using the new impeachment system to clear the decks of the rest of the democrats in 2022.
How you like that ****, dem's?
Not really, with all those bills done by the house sent over to the senate and McConnell not doing anything with them, well, the process ( when the house originates ) is
the senate does their version of the bill, THEN it goes back and forth until a compromise bill is voted on by both houses and signed by the prez.
Since McConnell is so afraid the prez won't sign any house originated bill or compromise bill, he doesn't bother. It never used to work that way before Trump, the senate would just charge ahead because prior presidents were intelligent to know that getting something done is a good thing, whereas this president prefers to have a do nothing senate that way he can blame it on Dems that nothing is getting done because he knows that the vast majority of repubs are so stupid they won't fact check the situation, and he benefits politically.
That's the sorry state of affairs we now live in, Because of the incredibly incompetent and anti-American president the repubs elected.
But, unfortunately for repubs, there are more people who vote for dems than who vote for repubs, overall, and though in narrow margins, because of the EC bias to help repubs in rural areas, although they have that particular advantage, but with a strong dem candidate and a greater margin of victory, as more and more seats are being taken back by dems and governorships as well, things are looking very good for dems. The EC bias wasn't enough to put Romney in office, because in Obama we had a strong candidate, all we need is someone stronger than Hillary, which would be anyone who is not hillary and hopefully not too far to the left.
So, all Dems need is someone who is not Hillary and is strong with the black vote, and that would be Biden. If Biden wins the nomination, we have a good chance of beating Trump. If warren or sanders is the nominee, yes, Trump has a much better chance.
Remember, Trump only won by 77,000 votes in three swing states, so given that Trump has FAILED on health care, and that the swing voters were largely independents and voters who voted for Obama, but hated Hillary, and believed Trump for his "populism" which is now obvious that it was all fake, that he's really the corporate shill and despicable human being that dems knew all along that he was, I doubt he is going to keep the 77K that put him over the top in 2016 because Biden is both strong in the rust belt / swing states and in the south.
