I think, under our laws, it is only a 'bribe' if it was done without being reported. Essentially, bribery is legal so long as it is done in the open. Been that way for several decades now.

I do not think so. Please give a link which states to bribe in the open is legal? I could find nothing that states that bribing openly is legal. And not only is this a direct BRIBE, but it also shows how easy it is for our democracy to be bought and sold. Of course with the present GOP it is no surprise. They take money from the Russians oligarchs without a problem.

There is no law that states, ‘open bribery is legal.’ We call them campaign donations and super pacs.


And not only is this a direct BRIBE, but it also shows how easy it is for our democracy to be bought and sold.

I think that there is a difference when you are handing out money to those who will soon be voting on your tenure in office. This is not a campaign donation, this is a literal BRIBE.
