Caving To Pressure, Trump Cans Plans To Hold G-7 At Trump Doral | HuffPost
I thin it goes way beyond public opinion. Trump has never worried about public opinion other than his base and I would bet 99% of those would not care about him using Doral to make money. They have never worried about anything he has done to date. I thin one, it has more to do with the Dems using it as another part of their impeachment claims. It certainly violates the emolument clause, but Trump has shown he is not worried about doing so as long as no real action is taken against him for that. The other thing is that the Dems were trying to pass a bill stating that Trump would get no tax dollars for fixing any problems at Doral. He is already having money problems and if he had to pay big money up front to correct problems at Doral he might run into financial issues. Finally he can use the G7 and Doral issue with his base to spur them up. Those bad Dems would not allow him to use the "only" facility in the USA good enough to hold the G7 just because he owns it and would certainly profit from it even if he said he would not, wink, wink. So Trump has folded on this issue, but I wish the court case concerning the emoluments section in the constitution would get to SCOTUS to see how the so called conservatives would rule. One would think being conservative they stick to you can not receive anything of value from foreign countries, but with this GOP SCOTUS, they might give the go ahead to the GOP and Trump to do as they want.

Why did Trump change his mind on holding G7 at Doral?

my guess is because someone with an IQ above room temp convinced him that it would be another article of impeachment, and a very solid one, at that.

Maybe someone pointed out to the prez that there are only two presidential suites at doral?

Whatever the reason it's nice to see he backed off from his blatant law breaking.

More likely someone with common sense prevailed on him that this is a bridge to far. Just to insensitive to the public's sense of decency.

100% trolling to distract from impeachment and Syria. Mostly Syria right now I suspect.

Trump already got the national news media to market his Doral resort...a resort I didn't know existed until this past week. He already benefited from it, and muddied up the news cycle.

I don't know where they are gonna hold it though, his staff was claiming you might have to wear oxygen masks at high altitude or some other bull**** for other venues...

Perhaps there is a new infestation of bedbugs at Doral.

Trump seems to "change his mind" on many things, sometimes within the same burst of sentence fragments - which I typically refer to as "TrumpSpeak". Trump's "plans" often consist of no more than a general wish to (impulsively?) do something and rarely (if ever) have their basis in careful analysis of alternative methods.

The Great Wall Of Trump is one such "plan". Rather than focus on why so many wish to illegally immigrate into the US (could that be the lack of an eVerify mandate for US employment?), Trump looked at how some (as many or more simply overstay temporary visas) are gaining entry instead.

You've never been to Colorado, have you?

Trump caved Baby!

The answer to the thread title question...

I thought I was doing something very good for our Country by using Trump National Doral, in Miami, for hosting the G-7 Leaders. It is big, grand, on hundreds of acres, next to MIAMI INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, has tremendous ballrooms & meeting rooms, and each delegation would have its own 50 to 70 unit building. Would set up better than other alternatives. I announced that I would be willing to do it at NO PROFIT or, if legally permissible, at ZERO COST to the USA. But, as usual, the Hostile Media & their Democrat Partners went CRAZY! Therefore, based on both Media & Democrat Crazed and Irrational Hostility, we will no longer consider Trump National Doral, Miami, as the Host Site for the G-7 in 2020. We will begin the search for another site, including the possibility of Camp David, immediately. Thank you!

I've been to many conferences in Denver. Never saw one person with an oxygen tank. Is this particular concern something unique to Trump supporters? Low oxygen?

Remove the President's ownership, and Doral was a great site for the conference.

In the end, not a hill worth dying on.

No need to have the place destroyed by the mountain of protestors who would descend on the place regardless.

Trump wumped out and caved to Democrats, he's a ***** bitch baby isn't he Mycroft?
Ran his mouth to get some marketing for Doral, then backed off claiming it was Democrats...poor TRUMP! What a victim!! That mean old media keeps report on facts...Trupm hates them!!!
It was team-Trump bull****...if there was a venue that required oxygen masks, why was it on their short list of 12? They just used it to fake-justify Trump's property. It's ****ing stupid Trump bull**** as always.
Just like your post, 100%, 24/7 Trump apologist.

Well, it's logistically improbable. Most G7 attendants would not get the quality rooms to which they are accustomed. Road access will be difficult. Possible Hurricane. Doral just doesn't have the infrastructure or facilities to accommodate the level of a G7 summit. Security. Etc. It would be a disaster.

Oxygen for everybody! Another great gift from our benevolent leader!

It is very simple, Mr President, how can you rail against the stupid **** Biden and done in the past and do the exact same thing he has done!!!! Do you really want the DEMS comparing you to Joe Biden? Please, please, please go in front of the press and apologize for your lack of consideration for the impression of conflict of interest. You can tell them that it is completely legal and you are more the capable of doing it but them you would be no better than the previous politicians who have been doing this same **** regularly.

LOL!!

You should go see a Broncos game. Watch the other team's players huffing oxy. And that's in Denver...3,000+ feet lower than the mountain resorts.

That Doral might meet the requirements for the ‘20 G7 summit is irrelevant. Trump should not have proposed it in the first place.

And your assertion that protesters would have destroyed the failing Trump business is pure bull****.

Were the G7 attendees going to play football? If not, your comment is irrelevant.

I totally agree. Doral is in a residential area. It would be a nightmare for security and the people who live in the area.

He'll find a hundred other ways to make money personally from being the President of the United States.

This reminds me a bit of Bobby Fischer playing chess. At some point in almost every game he would move a piece too far forward. His opponent would make a move to force the piece back, then he would pull the piece back to where it was safe. The only gain was the change in the opponent's position, which was often minimal. Yet, there was a change which could have value. Fischer might have gained insight into how his opponent saw the position, and there was no cost. The piece wound up where most Grandmasters would have moved it directly.

This strikes me as the same sort of probing move. Did he want to have the event at the Doral? It seems certain he was prepared to do so. It also seems certain he expected some sort of pushback and was also prepared for that. If nothing else, we have a few days of distraction from the impeachment farce. The irony is that Trump was probably telling the plain truth, knowing it would not be believed.
