Pence, Pompeo negotiate ceasefire

The Kurds have to leave the areas they live. This is an attempt to cleanup the mess Trump caused.

No Nobel Prize for you Donald you incompetent fool.

Trump makes a blunder or trades the Kurds for his own gain.
Republicans oppose him 300 something to 60 in the House.
Trump sends the cleanup crew to act like they just reversed Trump's prior decision, and that all those dead Kurds, the new relationship with Russia, the betrayal of our allies, etc., somehow didn't occur.

And apdst is claiming Democrats "wanted a war", in a troll post.

They won't be happy with this GOOD news...

A POSSIBLE ceasefire AFTER Erdogan gets everything he wants at least in writing from the US.

The Kurds have been betrayed for the second time in a week.

Putin absolutely gets what he wants as he is now the "undisputed" controlling force in Syria. Iran gets a big piece to its land bridge to the Mediterranean puzzle.

At best, there is a break in the fighting and a long drawn out civil war with Russia simply determining who gets killed. Whereas during this part of the conflict, Syrian and Russian forces were the anvil for Turkey to pound the Kurds against, now Turkey will provide the anvil for Russia and Assad to pound the Kurds against. One of Putin's orders of business will be to attrit what is left of the Kurds to the point where they are pliable.

Trumpkin starts the fire then rushes in to claim he is the fireman. NOT REALLY!

It remains to be seen if the news is good. So far, its all been an exchange of intentions. Diplomacy is the art of saying nice doggy until you can get hold of a really big rock. ;)

It's not a ceasefire if America was never actively engaged and one of the two parties who were actively engaged was not present for negotiations.
It remains to be seen if the news is good.
Really? How does it remain to be seen? The United States just capitulated to the demands of a country with a fraction of its economic, diplomatic or military power. America received NO benefits for this negotiation, we removed sanctions we claimed to put on Turkey because they didn't do what they want and we, once again, betrayed our allies.

This has weakened American standing in the world (to the benefit of Russia, among others), will cause allies to be even more mistrustful of us, shows America to be weak against those who cross us and America received NO BENEFIT AT ALL.

So...in what ways do you see this news as ever possibly being good?
Hell ****in no they won't...lol
Please list all the ways this is good for America, to have a much weaker country ignore our warnings and then demand we agree to their ultimatum which works against American interests, which we do.

In what ways is that good? List them all please.

Always supported getting out of Syria. Life has been lost due to Donald's idiocy, he should have called in the UN Peacekeepers to protect the Kurds before he unleashed the bloodthirsty **** bag, Erdogan.

That being said, in "120" hours - so 5 more days of slaughter - and hopefully the ceasefire will remain in effect. The damage is already done, however, hundreds of ISIS fighters have escaped.

Bestgore will probably have beheading videos very shortly.

Because Trump won and now there's a ceasefire that Turkey isn't calling a ceasefire. Didn't you hear? Trump won!

U.S. blood and treasure isn't being spent waging an objectiveless conflict.

We're still going to be in the area, just not militarily. So we're still spending that treasure.

But hey, at least Turkey got everything it wanted.

You totally misread the piece:

"It will be a pause in military operation for 120 hours...

Oh? Who's there?

Ah-huh. The "objective" has been reached argument. I will agree with that. Putin is now the undisputed controlling influence in Syria. Objective reached.

If it gets us completely out of the mess in Syria for no more than a few billion (more) in humanitarian aid then it was a good deal. If we remain with our military in Syria playing policeman for a decade (or more) then it was a completely bad idea.

Right! Orange man, bad...lol!

Is your country going to do anything? At all?

Oh? Who's there?

We are going to still be in the region, just not engaging militarily. Did you not read the details or listen to Pence afterwards? Or did you just see a headline and started jumping up and down for joy because you thought you could spin this as a Trump win instead of Turkey playing us? Seems like the latter.

Yeah, I'm not sure humanitarian aid is just a few billion thing anymore. Plus there's no time line on how long we're going to be involved in the area. Probably long enough that the next guy in office is going to start up military operations there again.

Ok...who are we posting there?

And you double down.. lol

I didn't double down. I admitted my fault as I read the 5 days as happening IN 120 hours; that being said, I also said I hope the ceasefire HOLDS.

Ok...who are we posting there?

You'll have to see if Trump and Co have a plan for that.

Vice President Mike Pence, speaking at a news conference on the ceasefire, said the United States will “continue to engage” in Syria, but “not militarily.”

“The President made it clear that we're not going to have military personnel on the ground, but the United States will continue to engage diplomatically, politically and, of course, in humanitarian aid and support to effect all of the people affected in this region,” Pence said.

So the US is going to maintain a presence in Syria, but not militarily.
