The Trump Impeachment Inquiry: Latest News - The New York Times

Mick Mulvaney, the acting White House chief of staff, told reporters that the release of military aid to Ukraine this summer was linked in part to White House demands that Ukraine’s government investigate what he called corruption by Democrats in the 2016 American presidential campaign.

It was the first time a White House official has publicly acknowledged what a parade of current and former administration officials have told impeachment investigators on Capitol Hill.

“The look-back to what happened in 2016 certainly was part of the thing that he was worried about in corruption with that nation,” Mr. Mulvaney told reporters, referring to Mr. Trump. “And that is absolutely appropriate.”

He said that the aid was initially withheld because, “Everybody knows this is a corrupt place,” and the president was demanding Ukraine clean up its own government. But Mr. Trump also told Mr. Mulvaney that he was concerned about what he thought was Ukraine’s role in the 2016 campaign.

“Did he also mention to me in passing the corruption related to the D.N.C. server? Absolutely. No question about that,” he said. “But that’s it, and that’s why we held up the money.”

Innoculate the base so that when it comes out, they don't care.

The facts do not support any legitimate reason to have gotten Rudy involved, other than specifically to go around the State Department (who was refusing), to try and get dirt on Biden as a pre-condition for a U.S./Ukraine meeting, for aid, etc.
Mr. Trump told his Ukranian state department team of experts...who WERE concerned about corruption, that he didn't really believe them, and that they should go through Rudy...who was working with four corrupt felons...to understand what Trump really wants out of this.

Outstanding, Mulvaney just admits that the US was withholding the aid to Ukraine based on Ukraine investigating the Crowdstrike Theory, a CT hatched in Steve Bannon's little shop of CT horrors.

I doubt this continued practice of crime and corruption in plain sight is going to hold.

Just left the GOP on the Hill with their YO-YO's in their hands.

Why is this news? We already knew that Trump wanted Ukraine corruption and ties to 2016 investigated. That was in the phone transcript. Investigating 2016 shenanigans is a GOOD thing. There is nothing improper about it at all.

Correction, he wanted a political rival investigated and said so. He wanted the Crowdstrike Theory investigated and said so. The Crowdstrike CT was hatched in Steve Bannon's little shop of CT horrors and everybody with a brain knows that. So what exactly was Zalinsky supposed to investigate?

Mulvaney just said the aid was withheld over a Corruption (code word for Biden which Trump did mention) investigation and a Crowdstrike investigation which Trump did mention.

The aid WAS withheld.

Last I heard, Mulvaney works for Trump.

Soldoman claims that the professionals in the State Department...the credible workers like Marie and Volker, etc., we indeed pursuing anti-corruption.
Soldoman claims Trump was not swayed, and directed them to talk to Rudy.
Rudy, working with four felons, including Paul Manafort, a Russian-backed guy fighting extradition to the U.S. on bribery, and the two mobsters Parnas and Fruman, was specifically looking for dirt on Biden.'

How many sources do you want this to come from? Even if Trump admitted it at this point, you'd still be denying it. Why Lutherf? Just to piss off liberals? What a sell out of America.

This is no different than the "Trump/Russia" nonsense they dreamed up and got slapped down on.

Here's the rub. They don't think a POTUS that they don't like should have the power/authority to investigate corruption in Ukraine.
All the king's men, and all the king's horses can't put their vapid impeachment argument back together again.
Their bitch is Trump is the president and holds the power.
