It was when I was age fourteen and participating in a broadcasting internship there, and as far as I know, it still is, although Tenleytown certainly has grown by leaps and bounds since 1957.
I had several teachers in my internship, which was a "class" of eighteen kids my age.
We had
Willard Scott, who was the local WRC-TV weatherman AND the original Ronald McDonald, and we had
John Chancellor, who was the "visiting" Washington DC based NBC-TV news anchor at the time, splitting his anchor duties with David Brinkley and Frank McGhee.
Scott, of course, was rotund, goofy and very connected to casual humor while Chancellor was a somewhat imposing figure, six foot five and possessed of a very reassuring baritone set of pipes and a natural delivery.
I think WRC-TV has probably expanded their base of operations quite a bit in the digital age, but the Nebraska Avenue studios will probably continue to serve for a very long time, as the location couldn't possibly be better for a newshound in the capital city.
On the outside, it almost looks like an old 1950's high school but the inside is pure cutting edge tech and always has been.
