Ruth Bader Ginsburg

all justices will die. it's why the pre-civil war justices aren't still voting to keep black people in slavery today.

in 100 years the justices will rule way different than the justices of today. anyone Trump appoints is just temporary.

Where did this idea come from that the decision would ever be reversed?

It's a false hope that his been thrown out by the Republican Party to the evangelicals to get their votes. Wedge issue too.

So your hope is if she dies the court will be strongly stacked in the favor of conservatives and they will rule against Roe vs. Wade? I guess it's already 5/4 in favor of conservatives?

I think they have to take it up first, and I believe it's quite difficult to reverse a Supreme Court ruling isn't it?
Previous descisions carry a lot of weight, stare decisis Or "let the things previously decided stand". It's not etched in stone, so RvW could be reversed.

Democrats have no door away from lifetime benefits. They won't even demand work requirements for able bodied people. Just give them benefits and don't expect anything in return. Democrats only solutions are to give give give and those on the programs just receive receive receive. There are no incentives to better yourself to get off the programs.

Gee I wonder why there are more people like that in the red states than blue states?

What you seem to not understand is that scotus can declare a law unconstitutional for the entire country.

You should be embarrassed
SCOTUS decisions are binding on the entire nation, you're correct. However, RvW repeal wouldn't outlaw abortion, just pass that authority back to the states .

I thought conservatives believed in small government and freedom. Why are they so obsessed with this issue? At best it would be illegal in red states. People would get on a bus to get their abortions. If it was completely illegal, people would go to illegal basement abortion clinics and use pills or go to Mexico or Canada. Conservatives are chasing their tail.

I'm a Christian. I think abortion is wrong but I believe we should persuade people it's wrong not coerce them using government. Government coercion doesn't work. We tried it.

Moreover, most people have abortions because they can't afford to have the child. Conservatives want to make it harder for poor people to be able to afford to have the child. They're promoting abortion through their policies.
Not conservatives that have been screaming and yelling about judicial appointments making pro-abortion a "litmus test" for appointment: that's all on you lefties.

It is legal in Mexico city

Abortion in Mexico*is a controversial issue. Its legal status varies*by state. The procedure is available on request to any woman up to twelve weeks into a pregnancy in*Mexico Cityand the state of*Oaxaca,[1][2]*but is severely restricted in the other states.[3][4]*As of April*2015, 138,792 abortions have been carried out in the capital city since its decriminalization (2007).[5]

Yes, but the other poster implied it wold be easy to just slip across the border and get it done.

Even if you are in Mexico City, it is not an easy process to get it done.

1. No, abortion will NOT become illegal.

2. Some issues such as abortion, civil rights, legality of gay love, etc. are now taken for granted by Americans. No Supreme Court would dare overturn those rulings.

a. The Democrats are being cruel to suggest that "conservative" justices would ever overturn those rulings.

*****

But, of course, no one can predict what will happen in the far future. The United States by the next century may have a majority of people who are socially conservative, so they may wish to rescind some of those rights. But that will affect our great-grandchildren, not anyone living now or even born today.

If Ruth Bader Ginsburg retires or dies in office when Trump is still president, will abortion become illegal?

nope

america is a first world country where women have equal rights and freedoms, like the majority of other first world countries with rights and freedoms that isnt going to change and go backwards

That would depend on the ruling. They could easily rule that abortion violates the constitution and thus is illegal in the entire country

Gee I wonder why there are more people like that in the red states than blue states?

Funny how the left loves to twist and spin the truth that it is Democratic city areas who receive the most welfare and not the red rural areas.

Per capita? Prove it

That's just it, you have to throw the per capita crap into it to prove your point. California and New York dole out more in welfare dollars than every red state combined. And, many of the so called red states welfare areas are actually blue cities.

Because it has more people!!!!! Are you freaking kidding me????

That is hilarious

The blue states are clearly the welfare queens. And yes, they have more people on welfare and spend more dollars on welfare. Trying to spin that is just a leftist talking point. And, it is blue areas in red states that also have the welfare queens.

That is freaking hilarious. By that measure they have many more people paying taxes too. A lot more.

Dude you need to learn basic math. Lol

They do have more people paying taxes. It's you guys on the left who want to use facts. It's a fact that California has more people on welfare and pays more in welfare dollars than red states combined. And they also factually have more people paying taxes and more tax dollars than the red states combined. But, it is the left who want to twist the facts to their political advantage. Facts are facts. It is the blue states who are the welfare queens. And it is the blue cities in the red states who are responsible for most of the red state's welfare.

Then by your definition the red states don't contribute enough taxes to this country. The blue states are paying the vast majority of the taxes. The blue states are the ones funding this country

You're welcome.

That would depend on the ruling. They could easily rule that abortion violates the constitution and thus is illegal in the entire country
That would be separate from revoking RvW.

It depends on the reason for overturning roe. If it is that abortion is unconstitutional then it is illegal in the entire country

Never mind, I feeling like I'm talking to a fourth grader.

You clearly do not understand what overturning a law means.

And I can not make you understand. Lol

It struck down a Texas law making abortion illegal and by extension forbid other states from passing similar laws. If the decision were to be overturned I would allow states to pass their own abortion laws.
