10/15/19 debate thread

But if they don't oppose him the way they opposed Clinton, then Trump might lose them anyway.

Hard to say. I think its a moot point since I don't think he has any chance at the nomination

Yeah, I just flipped over from watching "FBI" during a commercial break and saw her get into beta's face over his confiscation schemes. She knows if she backs gun confiscation, she cannot win and might get hurt in her home state. Pushing for feel good background checks won't hurt her in the primary and might not hurt her in a general election. Pushing for bans and confiscation is a sure loser
The mandatory buy back supporters are assbags.

Buttigieg might be the most sensible & intelligent guy on the stage.

Hmm... then why is he wasting time running for POTUS with no chance to get the DNC nomination? Could it be that he just wants another federal job to get out of South Bend, IN?

yep, smart and she's not too far left. But she has some issues. She has a reputation of treating her staff like crap.
In comparison to who she'll be running against, I don't see that as a substantive problem.

She has zero charisma
Yeah, true. Sadly, some of us react to emotionality & charisma, rather than concepts & ideas. There's a lot of different personality types out there.

So there are 4 more weeks to qualify. Much like the old TV series... 8 is enough.

They need to be down to no more than 5 by Jan 1.

Someone said that about South Bend, Indiana at one time too.

college towns tend to be far more accepting of that than the states in general. Ithaca NY is far more liberal than most of upstate NY. the University of Texas is probably the most liberal area in that state.

Maybe not. I just think he's the best candidate. I historically keep my favorite in my mental running until he or she falls out.

He can have another fifty years in politics if he wants it. Whether or not he has a chance, he is unmeasurably better off and better known than he was six months ago.

LOL, didn't say that at all. You do realize that most people working in the HC insurance industry are your "fellow Americans, too", right?

Sure I do. And that's what a federal jobs guarantee solves.

I am glad we can support on you to vote for bernie.

I may be impatient, but I'm ready to narrow this margin a bit to sharpen this sword for the fight in the general.
Fair enough, in strategic terms. But I'm finding I'm really enjoying this debate. It's a pretty intelligent & civil debate. Maybe I'm just easily impressed, after watching the 2016 Republican debate and Trump & Rudy since then.

Absolutely, but that is why the stage is so crowded. I guess it limits the damage from having the others have to answer the questions asked of them or getting more follow-up questions.

This is my tinfoil hat talking but I believe if the top 5 in polling were centrist like Biden, Klobouchar, Delaney, Bennet, and Booker... they (the DNC working with the networks) would have already narrowed this down to those 5. That two progressives are in the top three makes them keep expanding the stage IMO.

Like I said, this is my tin foil hat talking here on this one.

I'm pretty sure I'm writing simply enough for an eighth grader to understand, yet you seem totally dumbstruck? A federal job guarantee is the most idiotic idea I've ever heard.

I crossed Tulsi Gabbard off my list long ago. She's possibly a Russian agent. The same Russian propaganda machine that helped Trump in 2015 is also doing their best to champion Tulsi Gabbard. She defended her positions on Russia and her 2017 meeting with Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad just convinced me that she's not what she appears to be. Then there's the fact that David Duke is supporting her candidacy. She received a full-throated from David Duke. He posted a photo to his Twitter banner of Tulsi Gabbard with a statement reading “Tulsi Gabbard for President. Finally a candidate who will actually put America First rather than Israel First”.

Nah, been there - done that

You may want to find new sources because you are being lied to.

I have to say, I didn't like Biden's dodging the question about his son. He could have easily said that his son is an adult who doesn't work for the government. The "why did you allow your son" question is absurd.

The debates wouldn't be 3 hours long if there weren't so many candidates, so the responses probably wouldn't be much longer, but I'm surprised that so many have held on for so long too. I expected everyone who has never seen 5% to be gone by now. They're all collecting enough money to survive, which facilitates a more diverse exchange of ideas.

Regarding the question of Bernie’s health, there’s literally no answer for that question.

I understand why others might think these questions are relevant, but I find them extremely demeaning.
