Brutal wipeout for Democrats in La.

Everyone was more conservative 50 years ago. The democrats moved so far left that they have socialists running for president. JFK is not a democrat by modern democrat standards and neither are those Southern Democrats of old. But they were democrats despite the revisionism of modern`leftists who are simply desperate to paint democrats good, republicans evil

It's more complicated than that, and Democrats haven't changed that much, the right has radicalized and become plutocratic. They set sail and told the land it had moved.

Look up FDR's economic bill of rights, including advocacy for universal healthcare by him and other Democratic presidents.

The country used to have a third of the workforce in unions. Take a look at this, and it shows the actual story what's happened. (I'll link the source which has a graph showing changes over time).

Yes. It was after World War II, in 1948, that the United States spearheaded the Universal declaration of human rights. In it, it argued that all human beings should have the dignity of access to food, clean water, a basic education, and access to healthcare. It’s so ironic now that the same country is advocating for social Darwinism.

Isn't this much like noting how blue California is?

Hey, when you're a Southern man and tell everybody you're God-fearing and honest but still support a mafia dude like Donald Trump you have to celebrate the victories when you can.

The mistake in 2016 was in running a mafia dudette like Hillary and expecting to prevail. BTW, my point was that republicants winning in a red state like LA is no more shocking than demorats winning in a blue state like CA.

Among statewide office-holders, the incumbent GOP Lieutenant Governor (68 percent), Attorney General (66 percent), Treasurer (60 percent, and Agricultural Commissioner (58 percent) were all re-elected without the need for a run-off, under the state's 'jungle primary'-style system. It also appears that the solid Republican majorities in both state legislative chambers will remain intact -- with the GOP expanding its Senate advantage into super-majority territory by picking up a pair of Democratic seats:
Dems Decimated in Louisiana: GOP Gains Senate Supermajority, Dem Governor Now on the Ropes

that ought to be a big warning to the impeachment-obsessed Beltway Democrats that the voters aren't buying into their repeated stunts to unseat Trump.
Democrats are being wiped out both by their impeachment obsesssion as well as by their way-out-of-the-mainstream left wing views and it's being done by the people themselves sneaking up on them. As of now, they're all deluding themselves that nothing is happening.

Democrats took their victory in 2018 far too seriously. Historically, the party in power loses the midterms and 2018 was actually very anemic for the Democrats. Just like in 2016, Democrats have already uncorked the champaigne bottles.

Rudy Perpich comes to mind, but you gotta remember, that whole Tea Party/Trump thing would have horrified even old Rudy. What's that crazy Minnesota woman's name again, the one that sounds like Palin?
Michelle Bachmann

Now there's a lunatic for ya.
Maybe there are still some rational Minnesota conservatives.
I remember when I lived there, they were okay.

Michelle Bachmann was largely a result of Gerrymandering - granted it was Democratic Gerrymandering in this case - but they essentially took all the wealthiest white suburbs of the twin cities and put them together to create a can't lose Republican stronghold. To get a better idea of Minnesota overall you really need to look at the Governors and the Senators. Arne Carlson and Tim Pawlenty were the last two Republican Governors of Minnesota. There was also an independent who I can't remember the name of....oh yeah Jesse "The Body" Ventura.

Of those three Pawlenty is the only one that might be able to avoid getting called a RINO by any other member of the Republican party. In fact I'm pretty sure Carlson and Ventura endorsed Democrats in recent Senate and Governor's races in Minnesota.

Historically Democrats do very poorly in mid-terms where their base of young people and minorities struggle to turn out. Republicans base of Middle aged white people pretty much always show up. If you couldn't hold one of the most Gerrymandered Houses in history in a Mid-term and could win the popular vote in 2016 against Hillary Clinton then good luck next November.

That's one of the better things about this entire Trump era. It's so easy to pick out the people who have been conned by Republican media into thinking that Democrats are more corrupt than the Trump crew.

It's basically picking out who is naive.
